Position Overview: San Francisco Bay University is seeking dynamic and dedicated adjunct faculty in computational creativity and innovation to design (remote) and/or deliver (remote or face-to-face) an innovative new course in our General Education curriculum. The course is titled How to “Be Creative” in Partnership with Computation & Machine Learning. The course explores the intersection of computer science, math, art, and design, examining how computational tools transform creativity while engaging with the ethical and philosophical questions they raise. Students will develop tactical computational skills, explore generative art, machine learning, and algorithmic design, and analyze how creativity intertwines with imagination, emotions, and innovation. Through hands-on projects, they will reveal connections between artistic expression, mathematical principles, and scientific phenomena. The course culminates in a final project where students synthesize their learning to harness computation as a creative tool. This position does not offer visa sponsorship. You must be authorized to work in the US. Teaching Excellence: Possess deep subject knowledge, pedagogical expertise, and the ability to engage students actively while adapting to their diverse needs. As we transition away from traditional lecture-based instruction, we seek faculty who understand and appreciate student-centered design and can adopt pedagogical practices stemming from this approach. These practices include active learning strategies, collaborative projects, problem-based learning, inquiry-based learning, flipped classroom models, and the use of formative assessments to inform and adjust teaching. We are looking for faculty with the skills and motivation to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment that emphasizes clear communication, collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
