This description is a summary of our understanding of the job description. Click on 'Apply' button to find out more. Role Description We sit beneath the freight ecosystem — normalizing real-time telematics and execution data from hundreds of thousands of trucks and trailers across 130+ providers into a single API. The data is real, messy, and valuable. We need someone who can turn it into insights that make customers immediately understand what they've been missing. This is our first dedicated analytics hire. The data infrastructure exists — your job is to be the person who makes it speak. What You'll Own - Insight Generation — you'll dig into large-scale telematics and execution data to surface patterns in utilization, dwell, driver activity, safety signals, and operational performance. - GTM Enablement — when a prospect asks "what can your data actually show me?", your work is what answers that question. You'll build demo dashboards, sandbox datasets, ROI metrics, and example analyses that help sales and GTM teams close deals with real proof points — not slides. - Product & Platform Feedback — you'll validate assumptions, surface gaps, and help define the metrics that customers actually trust. Your analysis will influence roadmap priorities by grounding them in what the data does and doesn't support today. - Data Quality & Coverage — you'll help monitor the completeness and reliability of Catena's data network, working with engineering and product to identify normalization gaps and improve how we represent lane history, asset identity, and availability across the network. Qualifications - Strong in SQL and comfortable building reporting workflows from scratch. - Experience making messy, large-scale datasets usable — not just querying clean tables. - Ability to translate a complex finding into a clear narrative for a sales call or a product review. - Curious about how data reflects real-world operations, not just how it looks in a dashboard. - Thrive in ambiguity; at 15 people, the spec for what you're building often comes from you. - Take ownership of the output, not just the analysis. - 3+ years in data analytics, business intelligence, or related roles. Logistics or supply chain experience is a meaningful plus. Requirements - Experience with SQL; Python or notebooks are a plus, but not required. - Ability to build dashboards and reports that non-technical people actually use. - Understanding of the difference between an analysis that's technically correct and one that changes how someone makes a decision. Benefits - Competitive salary. - Meaningful equity. - Full benefits. - 401k match. - Remote-first with optional travel for team offsites and occasional on-sites. Company Description Catena has raised $8.25M from Shaper Capital, Floating Point, Plug and Play, Liquid 2, and leading industry angels. Customers are already using us in production — many of them are also investors. The data you'll work with is genuinely novel. Normalized, real-time telematics data at this scale and coverage doesn't exist anywhere else in freight. You won't be building reports on top of well-understood data — you'll be helping define what the data means and what questions it can answer. That's a rare problem to work on.
