Job Description: The Senior System Engineer guides and mentors others in building, enhancing, and implementing integrated systems that meet Customer and organizational needs. They manage production issue resolution and lead the daily operation and long‑term strategy of Southwest’s Enterprise Domain Name System environment on‑prem and in the cloud. The Senior System Engineer has technical and problem-solving skills and is ready to support Southwest’s reliability, efficiency, and overall operational excellence. Additional Details - This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for trainings, meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in an approved remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site. Responsibilities - Oversee vendor management, partner governance, and oversight to deploy systems that are complete, designed and managed over life cycles - Identify problems proactively, plan solutions, recommend software and systems, and coordinate developments in an orderly manner to meet business requirements - Monitor and test performance and capacity for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with partners to implement fixes - Provide innovative solutions to proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability in order to resolve escalations of high complexity - Create the platform strategy and road map in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture - Maintain awareness of technology trends in area of responsibility and makes appropriate recommendations - Meet commitments and deliverables as related to leading projects and or project oversight - Develop and execute against solution strategies and business plans that support business expansion - Maintain and administer computer and data networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations - Promotes adherence to integrated test strategy requirements and quality standards using test driven development principles - May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to analyze and resolve problems of high complexity - Expert knowledge of hardware components, systems, software, and networking technologies - Ability to complete and train others to perform troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, solution development, and implementation within specific technology areas - Skilled in expert partnering, negotiation, and communication in working with Business Customers and Technology support - Expert knowledge of systems development methodologies, practices, concepts, and technologies - Skilled in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replacing defective components when necessary - Ability to mentor and lead Engineers - Ability to develop, present, and effectively communicate complex ideas and strategies in both technical and user-friendly language to a variety of audiences - Skilled in excellent project management and analytical/creative problem-solving - Skilled in excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication Education - Required: High School Diploma or GED - Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information systems or similar fields of study or equivalent advanced level experience Experience - Required: Advanced-level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in system engineering Licensing/Certification - N/A Physical Abilities - Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time - Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job - Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job Other Qualifications - Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines - Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986 - Must be at least 18 years of age - Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines - Must be able to travel and /or attend Company and non-Company facilities and remote locations such as remote-based offices as necessary Pay & Benefits - Competitive market salary from $138,800 - $154,200 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. Role Description CGS is seeking an experienced CommVault Data Protection Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in designing, developing, configuring, implementing, testing, troubleshooting, deploying, and supporting backup and recovery technical solutions for a large-scale federal government enterprise’s environment. Skills and attributes for success: - Designed, developed, configured, integrated and secured complex backup, recovery and storage products over wide area network (WAN) in a complex, geographically dispersed solution, ranging from single servers to multi-tier, multi-platform solutions utilizing the Commvault enterprise backup solutions. - Create and maintain optimal backup, restore and redundancy solutions for critical data – to include primary/auxiliary copies and VM-based backups. Reviews, plans, and participates in executing regularly scheduled maintenances on the backup/recovery infrastructure. - Troubleshoot complex backup and recovery problems to include networking, application, server, hardware, and appliance related backup issues. - Provide analytics, usage, capacity planning and reporting within the Commvault management and monitoring solution. - Implement regular security updates and patches to related backup application servers and appliances in accordance with Federal Information and Information Systems requirements. - Work with operation teams to develop and support enterprise infrastructure processes, tools, and environments to ensure a timely response to backup, restore, and data replication requests.
