Role Description Golden Key Group (GKG) is seeking a Legal Support Specialist III to provide advanced-level legal support and administrative services to a government Office of Chief Counsel (OCC). - Provide advanced legal and administrative support to attorneys within the Office of Chief Counsel. - Assist attorneys in complex case evaluation, development, and litigation preparation. - Prepare and review a wide range of legal documentation and case materials. - Conduct legal research and data analysis using professional research tools. - Assist with ethics records management and financial disclosure reporting, including OGE Form 450 documentation. - Support the coordination and administration of the legal office intern program. - Maintain organized legal records, case files, and documentation in accordance with federal requirements. - Provide support during personal security hearings, including acting as backup support for OCC counsel as needed. Qualifications - Active Top Secret - Expert proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis. - Advanced knowledge of federal legal processes, administrative law, and regulatory compliance. - Familiarity with FOIA / Privacy Act (PA) requirements and OGE Form 450 financial disclosure reporting. - Demonstrated ability to manage complex legal documentation and case files. - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field + 5 years relevant experience. - Equivalency: Associate's Degree + 7 years relevant experience; OR 9 years relevant experience. Meet the team: The role will work closely with an active group of patent attorneys/agents and interact with outside legal counsel as well as other legal groups in the wider Legal Department. The Senior IP Patent Paralegal will be responsible for overseeing patent matters, including interfacing with business stakeholders and outside counsel, and preparing status reports. A high degree of accuracy, attention to detail & reliability are required for this position. Where you come in: - You will be first and foremost a case manager. This means you will be responsible for keeping excellent records and maintaining an accurate & timely case manager docket (independently of your practioners' dockets). - You will be working with attorneys/agents to track deadlines and ensure that all deadlines are met. This entails preparing and running weekly docket meetings to ensure timely response to all deadlines. Preparation includes entering commentary to patent deadlines indicating the latest status prior to the weekly docket meeting. - You will be docketing - Review entry of deadlines into IP docketing database for accuracy, i.e. review incoming correspondence from USPTO, WIPO, RO/US and/or foreign associates regarding the current status of patent applications – and ensure accuracy of the information, including Official Filing Receipts, Publications, Notifications, Assignments, Office Actions, Notices of Allowance, Issue Fees, and Patent documents. - You will be interfacing with and assisting outside counsel on intellectual property matters. - You will coordinate filing of new US/PCT patent applications, national stage applications, and foreign applications. - You are preparing and managing filing formal of documents, including Oath/Declarations, Powers of Attorney, Patent Assignments, and other formal documents as required by the USPTO/RO-US/PCT. - You will assist the Paralegal Manager with any other projects, including audits of the portfolio & completion of routine checklists. What makes you successful: - You have 3+ years of law firm experience in patent prosecution and at least 8 years total experience (including in-house experience). This experience should include U.S. and/or Foreign Filing, using and maintaining an IP docketing system, and filing and managing patent-related documents throughout the stages of a patent life cycle. - Trademark experience is a plus. - You have strong knowledge of docketing procedures and hands-on experience in one or more docketing tools.
