JOB SUMMARY A data science intern is a trainee who wants to gain working experience in the field of data science. Data science interns assist data scientists in collecting, analyzing, and interpret data sets to drive optimization and improvement of product development. As part of the company's trainees, Machine learning and generative AI interns are expected to assist in designing and implementing advanced ML pipelines and Gen‑AI solutions, including developing, training, and optimizing models to address complex real‑world problems. Data science interns must also coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Identifies and analyzes patterns in the performance of machine learning models, the types of Gen‑AI outputs produced (e.g., text, images), and the speed or unexpected variations in model behavior during training and inference. - Educates the organization both from IT and the business perspectives on new approaches, such as testing hypotheses and statistical validation of results, LLM model evaluation etc. - Works with engineering and data science teams to support model training, fine‑tuning, and deployment workflows, ensuring that machine learning and generative AI systems are properly integrated, monitored, and optimized based on business requirements. - Build dashboards using tools like power BI - Conducts basic data analysis JOB QUALIFICATIONS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS - Proficient in Python/R, Cloud techniques development experience is plus - Familiar with regression models (i.e., xgboosting, lightGBM etc.), classification models (i.e., logistic regression, SVM, etc.), cluster models is preferred - Familiarity with generative AI models (e.g., GPT‑based large language models, diffusion models), prompt engineering techniques, and model fine‑tuning or customization is preferred. - Strong statistics knowledge is plus - Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in teams and under pressure. Multi-lingual capability is a plus - Highly motivated and creative, thinking “out of the box” - Strong team mentality, interpersonal and communications skills - Enthusiasm and ability to seek out and learn new technologies and algorithms outside of your immediate toolset/knowledge to solve business problems where required EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND & EXPERIENCE - Students who are taking his/her Bachelor or above degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics or Statistics The hourly pay range for this role is $16.00 - $32.00. About the Role: Health-E Commerce is seeking a Data Scientist to help shape the future of our modern data ecosystem.
