Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. - At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle month-end close and financial statement preparation. - Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager with direct-report supervision. - Strong knowledge of US GAAP and internal control principles. - Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with a mid-market ERP system. - Experience in construction, MEP, or specialty contractor accounting, including job costing, work-in-progress (WIP), retainage, and AIA-style billing. - Experience with prevailing wage, certified payroll, and Elations or LCP Tracker. - Experience using Sage Intacct and BuildOps. - CPA designation. Requirements - Lead the month-end and year-end close process by coordinating activities, meeting the close calendar, and delivering a clean, reconciled trial balance. - Prepare and review financial statements, including the profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement, with period-over-period and budget-to-actual variance analysis. - Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and supporting workpapers in accordance with US GAAP and audit-ready standards. - Manage bank and financial account reconciliations, including operating, savings, brokerage, money market, and credit card accounts, while resolving outstanding reconciling items promptly. - Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing and reconcile payroll liability accounts, including accrued payroll, accrued vacation, employee benefits, HSA/FSA, NYS FLI, and SDI. - Ensure compliance with prevailing wage and Davis-Bacon requirements by preparing certified payroll reports (CPRs), completing Elations uploads, and supporting compliance audits. - Oversee project and service billing, including installation and WIP billing, intercompany transactions, and pay application-to-invoice reconciliation. - Manage job costing across installation and controls projects by ensuring labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs are accurately assigned to the appropriate jobs and cost codes. - Prepare and file sales tax returns, record related adjusting entries, and support insurance, workers' compensation, and NYSIF audits. - Serve as the accounting owner for Sage Intacct, BuildOps, Coast, and Elations/LCP Tracker, including system integrations and the resolution of synchronization issues. - Manage, coach, and develop the accounting team by establishing standard work, providing performance guidance, and leading weekly accounting meetings.
