Role Description This is a 100% fully remote position for one of the top 20 accounting firms in Canada. As a Senior Accountant, you will be working on assignments under the direct supervision of a Director and a Partner for all types of assurance engagements. You will oversee entire engagements from planning to completion, including but not limited to: - Completing and overseeing others’ work on audit files - Coaching Junior and Intermediate Accountants by providing input and expertise where necessary - Building effective and long-lasting working relationships on assignments with operational client contacts - Preparing complex areas of the file - Co-ordinating group audits with component auditors in other cities and countries - Reviewing work completed by Junior and Intermediate team members - Responding effectively and efficiently to client, manager and partner requests Summary of Responsibilities: - Planning, execution and completion of audit files - Understanding technical standards with the expected level of assistance and supervision - Ability to recognize relevant accounting and audit issues from basic analysis - Building effective working client relationships on assignments with operational client contacts - Managing allocated projects or assignments, including time management - Responding effectively to client, manager and partner requests and suggestions relating to an assignment - Supervising and training junior and intermediate staff - Maintaining technical knowledge – IFRS, ASPE, CAS - by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and establishing personal networks - Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed Qualifications - 2+ years of audit experience - Possessing leadership qualities and ability to support team members and goals - Strong commitment to quality - CPA designation or at least substantial progress thereto - Thorough knowledge and experience working with IFRS, ASPE and CAS to be able to complete complex areas of an engagement - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate well with clients, managers and partners - Strong file management skills and organization - Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously - Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook - Experience with Caseware Requirements - Job Vacancy Status: Existing Vacancy - Hours of Work: 35 hours per week; the role requires overtime as necessary to meet operational and professional requirements - Location: Remote - Salary: $78,000 - $100,000 - Compensation placement will be based on depth of experience, demonstrated skill set, and alignment with the responsibilities of the role Benefits - Lots of opportunity for growth and advancement within the firm – gain direct experience working with a wide range of industry groups and clients - Mentorship – our teams operate with an “open door” policy - Collaborative environment – everyone has a say in our success - Competitive compensation based on the Toronto market + opportunity for annual bonuses - Full benefits and insurance for you and your immediate family members, paid by the firm - Short Fridays all year long (3 pm office closure) - Flexible dress code - Mental health resources and ongoing mental health support - Providing you with opportunities to give back and support your community - As a member of Nexia, access to a global network of accounting and consulting professionals and training opportunities
