Role Description As a Senior Software Engineer at YLD, you’ll be part of a client team building innovative products. We’re looking for someone curious, passionate, driven, and enthusiastic. You should be skilled in problem-solving and experienced in designing scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant architectures. You’re also an effective communicator and a strong team player. Together with your team, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment, delivering outstanding results and exciting projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities will look like this: - Crafting excellent products! You will be building new features that meet the needs of our clients and customers; - Continuously delivering changes to products, as our client is moving to a full CI/CD model; - Working closely with your team, regularly collaborating on engineering initiatives, to continually push yourselves to be better; - Learning, growing, and mentoring the engineering team to accelerate their career growth and encourage them to progress; - Working with the Lead to architect, design, build, and deliver highly available, always-on, zero downtime products; - Being responsible for the production operation and monitoring of products in line with SLAs; - Driving good practices within your team, making an impact on the whole department; - Participating in regular show and tells, promoting your work to both your department and the wider company. Qualifications - Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and/or Go, with the ability to rapidly learn new languages; - Experience with modern frameworks across the stack (FastAPI, Gin, Express, etc.); - Production experience with React, modern build tools, state management, responsive design, and accessibility standards; - Comprehensive testing experience (unit, integration, E2E, security) and performance optimization; - Scalable system design patterns, load balancing, and high-availability architectures; - Database design and optimization (both relational and NoSQL); - API development (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) and event-driven architectures; - Caching strategies and message queue systems (Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ); - Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes); - CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation); - Monitoring, observability, and performance optimisation tools; - You can keep a cool head when debugging production issues; - Use AI tools to augment your work, applying sound judgement to adopt emerging technologies where they genuinely add value and increase your impact as an engineer. Qualifications - Strong backend engineering experience, with Go as a primary or preferred language - Comfortable working in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud - Experience building and maintaining APIs and backend services, including SaaS platforms - Familiarity with modern infrastructure and distributed systems - Solid understanding of modern deployment practices, including Docker, containers, and Kubernetes - Strong background in testing strategies, including TDD, across the full system lifecycle, with a focus on performance optimization - Use AI tools to augment your work, applying sound judgement to adopt emerging technologies where they genuinely add value and increase your impact as an engineer Requirements - Self-motivated, proactive and always looking for ways to improve and develop yourself - A good communicator, both in writing and verbally. • Design, build, and maintain robust backend and infrastructure systems using Golang and Java with contributions across the broader engineering stack • Work closely with client teams in collaborative working sessions, explaining technical decisions and translating complex engineering concepts clearly • Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP using Kubernetes (EKS/GKE), Terraform , and Flux • Actively leverage AI-powered tools and workflows to accelerate development, improve code quality, and drive engineering best practices
• Building, maintaining, and scaling the analytics platform infrastructure that underpins analytics, data science, and reporting capabilities; • Designing and managing data ingestion pipelines, ensuring reliable and timely flow from multiple sources; • Implementing and maintaining containerized environments with Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes; • Supporting continuous integration and delivery of platform components using GitHub Actions; • Collaborating closely with Analytics Engineers, Data Scientists, and Analysts to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions; • Monitoring platform performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements for reliability and efficiency; • Participating in team knowledge-sharing sessions, demos, and internal workshops to promote best practices.

• Collaborate with the client on product vision, help set your team goals and guide the team to ensure OKRs are achieved; • Translate the product vision and roadmap through to delivery, operation and continuous improvement; • Develop a deep understanding of customer personas, jobs-to-be-done and product behaviours; • Lead multiple cross-functional squads to deliver innovative solutions, in line with roadmap and stakeholder expectations; • Develop and prioritise a roadmap with the team along with a coherent product backlog that supports it; • Manage and rigorously prioritise the backlog to ensure that it is up-to-date, relevant, and actionable, confidently narrowing 30+ incoming requests down to the 4–5 highest-impact initiatives; • Optimise the best technical solutions to avoid over- and under-engineering problems, making sure that Development effort focuses on the right areas; • Support multiple engineering squads working largely independently, while reporting into a dedicated Product/Delivery Manager to ensure alignment and clarity of expectations; • Demonstrate high agency and ownership, able to push back constructively, defend product decisions with data and reasoning, and operate with genuine self-sufficiency.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and understand business problems and define data-driven solutions; • Lead end-to-end data science projects, from problem formulation and data exploration to model development, validation, and deployment; • Apply advanced statistical modelling and machine learning techniques to derive actionable insights and drive strategic decision-making; • Develop and implement predictive and prescriptive models to solve complex business challenges; • Collaborate with software and data engineers to integrate data from multiple sources and ensure data quality and integrity; • Communicate complex analytical concepts and insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner; • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI technologies, and proactively identify opportunities to apply them to business problems.
• Building and refining scalable backend systems using Python • Designing infrastructure on AWS and implementing robust CI/CD pipelines • Writing clean, tested code that supports millions of users worldwide • Collaborating closely with a global, diverse team of engineers • Advocating for best practices, continuous improvement, and thoughtful architecture • Showcasing your work in regular demos, and giving and receiving feedback
• Responsible for building core infrastructure software (pipelines, APIs, data modelling) as part of our client's data platform team • Instrumenting systems for performance and enhancement throughout • Ensuring data offerings to various internal & external stakeholders using secure authentication patterns • Choosing and implementing appropriate technologies for scaling data access patterns, batch processing, and data streaming • Coaching & mentoring other engineers to support technical expertise growth
