• Own the end-to-end member eligibility process — from receipt of client eligibility files through verification of active insurance coverage in Athena Health • Define and enforce client eligibility file completeness standards; establish intake SLA with Client Success for incomplete or missing demographic and insurance data • Implement and manage real-time eligibility (RTE) verification (using ANSI X12 270/271) transactions to confirm active coverage before claims are submitted • Develop and maintain a reconciliation process to ensure all active members in Zuora have corresponding verified records in Athena • Identify and resolve eligibility discrepancies, retroactive terminations, and coverage changes before they result in denied claims or revenue loss • Monitor eligibility-related denial trends and implement upstream controls to reduce recurrence • Oversee the accuracy and completeness of claims preparation and entry across all Virta Health products — Diabetes Reversal, Diabetes Management, and Sustainable Weight Loss • Ensure all claims are coded correctly and submitted within payer-specific timely filing windows • Monitor claim submission lag — the time between billing period close and claim submission — and establish benchmarks to reduce exposure • Work with Engineering to improve the flow of billing trigger data from Spark into Athena, reducing manual intervention in claims entry • Implement pre-submission claim scrubbing processes to improve clean claim rates and reduce first-pass rejections • Maintain working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding requirements relevant to Virta Health's digital health and value-based care model • Manage provider and program credentialing and payer enrollment for all applicable Virta Health providers, locations, and product lines • Ensure all providers are enrolled with payers prior to service delivery to prevent claim denials related to credentialing status • Maintain a credentialing tracking system with defined renewal timelines, expiration alerts, and re-credentialing workflows • Coordinate with Legal, HR, and Clinical Operations on provider onboarding and payer network participation requirements • Recruit, onboard, and develop front-end RCM staff including eligibility specialists, claims entry staff, and credentialing coordinators • Establish role-specific SOPs, training programs, and performance expectations for all front-end positions • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching to develop staff competency in eligibility verification, coding, and claims entry • Partner with the Manager/Director of Operational Effectiveness on reporting and process improvement initiatives affecting front-end functions.
Senior Manager, Back End Revenue Cycle

• Establish and maintain active monitoring of ANSI X12 277CA claim acknowledgment transactions to confirm payers have received submitted claims • Implement a tracking and escalation process for claims that have not received 277CA acknowledgment within defined payer-specific windows • Partner with the Front End Revenue Cycle Manager and Engineering to ensure clean claim submission and minimize rejection rates at the clearinghouse level • Maintain working knowledge of clearinghouse workflows and claim status tracking capabilities • Own the Athena Health AR aging report — ensuring it accurately reflects payment status and is actively worked on a defined cadence • Establish AR follow-up workflows by payer and aging bucket, with defined SLAs and escalation paths for each tier • Drive systematic reduction of the over-180-day AR balance through targeted payer follow-up, appeals, and collections activity • Coordinate with Finance and the Manager/Director of Operational Effectiveness to ensure AR balances in Athena are accurately reflected in Zuora and NetSuite through a defined reconciliation process • Identify and escalate AR balances where the insurance collection path has been exhausted and the employer guarantee of payment clause may apply • Build and manage a structured denial work queue in Athena Health with assigned ownership, defined SLAs, and a clear resubmission process for each denial reason code • Analyze denial trends by payer, reason code, and service line to identify root causes and implement upstream controls to prevent recurrence • Prioritize denial resolution based on dollar value and timely filing window expiration — ensuring high-value, near-deadline denials are worked first • Establish appeals workflows for payer-specific appeal processes, including supporting documentation requirements and submission timelines • Monitor denial overturn rates by payer and reason code, and use outcomes data to refine appeal strategies • Partner with the Front End Revenue Cycle Manager to address eligibility-driven denials at the root — denials reflecting coverage terminations that should have been caught upstream • Manage the collections process for both claims-billed payer populations • Establish payer-specific follow-up protocols including call queues, correspondence templates, and escalation timelines • Coordinate with Client Success on employer group collections, including communication protocols and escalation to the employer guarantee of payment process when appropriate • Monitor and report on cash collection rates by payer against contracted PMPM rates, identifying and investigating variances • Recruit, onboard, and develop back-end RCM staff including AR follow-up specialists, denial management analysts, and collectors • Establish competency requirements, training programs, and performance expectations for all back-end positions — with particular emphasis on experienced denial management and collections hires • Conduct regular AR review sessions with staff to ensure accounts are being worked effectively and escalations are appropriate • Build a culture of accountability, data-driven decision making, and continuous improvement within the back-end team

Role Description Virta is launching a service for a select group of patients to assist them with their weight loss goals leveraging Virta’s well established approach to obesity reversal as well as GLP-1 agonist medications. We are looking for a small number of RNs who live in a nursing compact state to help our physicians and nurse practitioners launch this service. The role requires experience with diabetes and obesity care and an innovator’s spirit, as this program is new, and we need problem solvers who are willing to help Virta build this program from the ground up. Responsibilities: - Manage the prescriptions of a panel of patients seeking to reverse their obesity in collaboration with the patient’s Virta medical provider. - Educate patients about Virta and Virta’s treatment and help them prepare for their nutritional and behavioral journey with Virta, setting them up for clinical success. - Use motivational interviewing techniques to help patients progress in their weight management journey. - Support patients on their obesity reversal journey, whether it involves nutritional change, medication, or both, with a firm understanding and commitment to Virta’s nutrition-first approach to weight loss. - Collaborate closely with our clinical and technology teams to help us build out this new service line. - Embrace a MVP (minimal viable product) approach to clinical program development. - Provide clinical support for our team of providers (MDs and NPs) as time allows, including panel management, triage calls with patients, medication entry, and diabetes education regarding medication administration, sliding scale insulin, carb counting, etc. - Commit to providing care of the highest quality that delivers an exceptional experience for the patient. - Conduct 20-minute clinical intake visits with prospective patients via video and/or phone as time allows.
