Role Description This position is for a Registered Nurse at the VISN 6 Clinical Contact Center (CCC). The CCC RN role is complex, requiring flexibility, independent decision making, and collaboration. The CCC RN is a proficient communicator and provides timely, appropriate advice, and guidance to patients and/or their representatives who seek assistance with healthcare issues. This announcement is only open to current permanent VISN 6 employees. Responsibilities - The CCC RN is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients. - Assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. - Provide direct care and counseling for patients through a virtual care system for the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness. - Utilize a structured process for clear and accurate information exchange among team members. - Utilize appropriate internal and external resources during virtual encounters. - Report unusual occurrences and adverse events. - Integrate and apply governing initiatives, directives, memorandums, and clinical practice guidelines to professional nursing practice. - Actively assess situational elements to support team functioning and improve care. - Consider recommended dispositions and interventions from clinical decision support tools. - Provide seamless care during public health emergencies and natural disasters. - Consolidate services through one center using telehealth modalities to serve Veterans. Qualifications - English Language Proficiency. - Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency. - Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse. - Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception may apply. Requirements - Basic education requirements as per the qualification standard. - Grade determinations based on Scope, Education, and Dimension criteria. - Physical requirements including visual acuity, keen hearing, and manual dexterity. - Ability to report to the nearest VAMC for Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
