Senior Software Engineer

vCluster Labs

vCluster Labs is a venture-backed tech startup headquartered in San Francisco, California, with a distributed, remote-first team spanning eight time zones. Founded following a Seri

Role Description As vCluster Labs' Senior Software Engineer (vMetal), you aren't just running servers; you are turning a rack of bare metal into a programmable platform. In this role, you will build the engineering work behind vMetal, the systems that discover, provision, configure, and manage physical hardware so our customers can spin up tenant clusters on top of it. You will sit at the rare intersection of out-of-band server management and modern Go services, and you will be one of the first engineers to help us grow this team. You will report to the VP of Engineering. - vMetal: You will contribute to architecture decisions, help drive the roadmap for bare metal provisioning and lifecycle management, and hold a high bar for code review and design quality on the team. - Bare Metal Programmability: Build the Go services that turn raw hardware into APIs our customers can consume. You will design and ship the systems that drive Redfish, IPMI, and PXE workflows in production, not glue scripts, real services with clean interfaces and solid tests. - Hardware Lifecycle Automation: Own how servers get discovered, inventoried, provisioned, configured, and reclaimed. You will eliminate manual intervention from the day-2 path and design for hardware that fails in surprising ways. - Cross-Generational Architecture: Translate between traditional out-of-band server management and modern Kubernetes-native patterns. You will contribute to where the abstractions live and how vMetal exposes hardware to tenant clusters cleanly. - Customer-Driven Reliability: Partner with customer engineering and the broader platform team to debug, harden, and ship against real production workloads. You will be on-call for the systems you build and you will treat reliability as a first-class deliverable. Qualifications - Go Fluency: You write production Go for a living. You can design clean services, APIs, and libraries, not just script around someone else's code. - Bare Metal Operations Depth: You have shipped systems that drive servers via Redfish and IPMI in production, and you understand PXE boot end-to-end. You have debugged what happens when a BMC lies to you. - Bare-Metal-as-a-Service Background: You have built or operated bare-metal-as-a-service offerings, an AI Cloud, or a hyperscaler bare metal team where infrastructure was the product. - Bridging Generations: You hold both server management and modern API design in your head and can design between them. You are comfortable in IPMI, iDRAC, and ILO consoles, and equally comfortable shipping a Go controller. - Operator's Instinct: You think about failure modes, telemetry, and recoverability before you ship. You have been on-call for the systems you have built and you treat that as a feature, not a tax. Requirements - Kubernetes Fluency: Comfort with Kubernetes internals, controllers, or operators, enough to design how bare metal hosts integrate cleanly with tenant clusters. - AI Cloud / Hyperscaler Time: Production experience inside an AI Cloud, hyperscaler, or large platform team where bare metal scale was non-negotiable. - Open Source Contributions: Meaningful contributions to projects in the bare metal, provisioning, or Kubernetes ecosystem, such as Tinkerbell, Metal3, Cluster API, or Ironic. Benefits - Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive compensation package, including equity. - Platinum-Level Insurance: Health, dental, vision, and life Insurance, including plans for you and eligible dependents (benefits vary depending on country). - Flexible Working Schedule: You have a doctor’s appointment or need to head to the supermarket to get groceries at 2pm? We won’t have an issue with that. To us, results matter more than clocking in and out at the same time every day. - Workplace Flexibility: We’re very flexible about where you work. We know things can change in life and we’re happy to adjust the work environment for you along the way.

Benefits We offer the following benefits: - Competitive Salary: We offer a competitive compensation package, including equity. Culture & Values At vCluster Labs, we value and stand for: - Make it Happen: We have a relentless bias for action and the grit to push through obstacles. We do whatever it takes to figure it out, put in the work, and ruthlessly prioritize the actions that drive measurable impact for the business. - Own the Outcome: We understand that our responsibility doesn't end when a task is checked off; it ends when the value is delivered. We connect our daily individual actions to the broader success of the company and our customers. - Create Wow: We measure success by the experience we generate, both inside and outside the company. For our customers, this means impressive speed and intuitive experiences. For our team, this means going the extra mile to support one another and to continuously drive each other to new heights. - Open Source, Open Mind: We are actively contributing to and maintaining open-source projects. Internally, we foster meritocracy — the strongest ideas win, no matter who or where they come from. - Build Tomorrow’s Standards, Intentionally: We don't just ship software; we define the state-of-the-art of tomorrow. We are fearless in tearing down old approaches to build something better, but we are disciplined in how we do it because we know our users rely on our technology to run mission-critical infrastructure platforms.

• Onboarding Ownership: Lead end-to-end customer onboardings, from the sales handoff through to project close. You coordinate architecture workshops, platform installation, access setup, integration configuration, and operational readiness reviews. You set the tone for how customers experience vCluster from day one. • Success Planning: Build and maintain customer success plans that document business objectives, KPIs, adoption milestones, and a forward plan. You treat the success plan as a living document that drives every customer conversation, not a one-time deliverable that sits in a folder. • Value Articulation: Translate platform adoption into business outcomes. You connect Tenant Cluster growth, provisioning time savings, and developer self-service enablement to the metrics your customers care about — cost efficiency, engineering velocity, risk reduction, and platform ROI. When it's time to renew or expand, the business case is already built. • Proactive Engagement: Own the customer relationship cadence — regular check-ins, Quarterly Business Reviews, and Executive Business Reviews. You do not wait for the customer and you run executive reviews that reinforce strategic partnership, not just feature updates. • Technical Credibility: Hold credible technical conversations with platform engineers, DevOps leads, and architects. You understand the vCluster architecture well enough to discuss Tenant Cluster deployment patterns, RBAC, Tenant Isolation, integrations, and Day 2 operations. You can independently assist the customer with their technical challenges and design optimal deployment architectures. • Renewal and Expansion: Own the renewal motion for your accounts — starting 90+ days out. You recognise expansion triggers — new use cases, AI/GPU workloads, additional Tenant Clusters, tier upgrades — and you work with the Account Executive and Solutions Engineer to convert them into growth that solves real customer problems. • Customer Advocacy: Serve as the internal voice of your customers. You represent their feature requests, escalate blockers, and provide actionable feedback to Product and Engineering grounded in real account context — not anecdote.

Engineering Tech Lead – vNode

vCluster Labs

vCluster Labs is a venture-backed tech startup headquartered in San Francisco, California, with a distributed, remote-first team spanning eight time zones. Foun

• Owning the vNode technical execution: Drive the architecture for how vNode wraps containerd, integrates with the kubelet, and exposes safe isolation primitives. You will set the bar for what ships, what gets deferred, and what gets redesigned. • Going deep on container runtimes and isolation: Lead the work where vNode meets containerd, Kata Containers, gVisor, runc, and the kernel. You will be the person who can explain (and improve) exactly what happens between a Pod spec and a process running under a constrained user namespace with a tight seccomp profile. • Shipping the kubelet integration surface: Own how vNode plugs into the node lifecycle: CRI, kubelet device plugins, cgroups v2, eviction, and the rough edges between Kubernetes' node model and a runtime that does not assume one tenant per node. • Raising the engineering bar: Run technical design reviews, set the pattern for testing isolation guarantees, and mentor the engineers shipping alongside you. You are not a people manager, but you are the engineer the team copies. • Being Customer Zero for vNode: Run vNode against vCluster Platform tenant clusters internally before customers see it. You will close the loop between what AI Cloud operators need and what vNode actually does in production. • Representing vNode externally: Contribute upstream where it matters (containerd, runc, Kubernetes SIG-Node), write the technical posts that explain why namespace-based isolation is the right answer, and represent vCluster Labs at KubeCon-class venues when the timing is right.

Content Manager32 days ago

Role Description As a Product Marketing Manager at vCluster Labs, you aren't just producing content; you are the connective tissue between what we build and why it matters. You will own the stories that land with enterprise platform teams, AI infrastructure buyers, and the ecosystem partners shaping how AI factories get built. This is a builder role: you write the case studies, script the videos, and ship the launch assets yourself — because only a PMM with command of our messaging and business priorities can get that right. - Content Programs: Own the full content roadmap — customer testimonials, case studies, written guides, and video content. You source the stories, shape the narrative, and produce the final asset. You are not handing this off; you are shipping it. - Product Launches: Drive go-to-market launches for new features end-to-end — positioning, messaging, launch assets, and internal enablement — so every release lands with clarity and momentum. - Sales Enablement: Translate complex technical concepts about tenant clusters, Tenant Isolation, and AI infrastructure into battle cards, one-pagers, and pitch narratives that make the sales team faster and sharper in the field. - Ecosystem & Industry Marketing: Partner with our ecosystem lead to develop content strategy for industry panels, partner spotlights, and events — making sure vCluster Labs shows up with a distinctive and consistent point of view. - Messaging & Positioning: Serve as the keeper of our messaging framework. Ensure every content asset — regardless of channel or author — reflects our brand, aligns to current business priorities, and speaks to the right buyer at the right stage. Qualifications - Messaging and positioning depth: You have built or refreshed a messaging framework from scratch, and you can defend positioning choices with market evidence and customer insight, not just intuition. - Go-to-market launch experience: You have run launches end-to-end — from product brief to post-launch retro — and you know what it takes to create external signal in a crowded infrastructure market. - A portfolio that shows, not tells: Blogs, long-form guides, customer stories, video scripts, social content — your work is findable, high-quality, and speaks to a technical audience without losing a business buyer. - Sales enablement fluency: You have worked directly with sales teams to translate technical depth into buying clarity. You know what a good battle card actually does for a rep in a live deal. - Builder-phase experience: You have joined a company before the playbook was written and thrived. You know how to prioritize ruthlessly and produce output that punches above your team's size. Requirements - Bonus points for: - AI infrastructure background: Experience at or with AI Cloud providers, GPU infrastructure companies, or enterprise AI platform teams. You understand the buying dynamics and vocabulary that enterprise AI factory builders bring to a deal. - Developer and platform community fluency: You have marketed to platform engineering, DevOps, or Kubernetes-native audiences and know how trust is built in open-source ecosystems. - Team-building instinct: You have thought about how to scale a content and PMM function and have opinions about when and how to bring in the next hire.
