POSITION SUMMARY The Campaign Fellowship is for young people who are passionate about immigration and education justice and committed to advocating for change in their communities. The program will provide fellows with training and mentorship to grow their skills as organizers and leaders. The program will also provide fellows with the opportunity to build community with like-minded youth and become a part of the United We Dream Network. Fellows will be expected to fully engage with the training curriculum to build up their campaign and advocacy skills and to complete a set of assignments to put those skills into action. This is a remote part-time position. RESPONSIBILITIES - Attend two weekly workshops during each of the 10 weeks of the fellowship program to grow your critical thinking skills, develop key campaign and organizing skills, and deepen your understanding of social justice and transformation. - Create a campaign proposal, identifying a problem you want to address in your community, the decision-maker that can address the problem, allies to recruit, and a set of tactics to communicate their demands. - Build relationships with other student organizations and local interest groups, forging strategic partnerships to amplify campaign visibility and mobilize collective action. - Design and lead creative direct actions or advocacy tactics to push forth your campaign demands, influence key stakeholders, and hold decision-makers accountable. - Learn about the Method Guide and put your skills to action by hosting a community meeting to gain support for your campaign proposal, facilitate community outreach and dialogue, and build a broad base of support. - Conduct one-on-one check-ins with community members and strategic partners to build a base of supporters for your campaign. - Participate in recurring trainings, meetings/check-ins, and office hours to refine campaign skills, complete the assignments, and build connections. - Complete assignments aimed at broadening your understanding of culture, politics and power, and exercises to place your campaign skills into practice in the real world. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS - Deeply committed to United We Dream’s mission and an ability to balance your burning passion for justice with a good sense of humor - Experience with writing and briefing reports - Excellent communication skills (written, oral, and interpersonal skills) - Enjoys working with others and is a team player with the ability to integrate data and insights from, individuals and teams across various departments - Ability to analyze and draw insights from data to synthesize and present the most important insights to senior-level and non-data people in an easy-to-understand way - Impeccable attention to detail; able to spot mistakes and inconsistencies missed by others - Experience with Microsoft Office and/or Google G-Suite applications, especially for analysis and presentation of data CULTURAL COMPETENCY (MUST HAVES) - Strong understanding of the immigrant experience - Understanding of race, gender, sexuality and other aspects of identity, and their intersections, and how that plays out in the work - Demonstrates self-awareness of their own multiple group identities and their attendant dynamics, and can adapt approach as needed - Ability to build strong relationships and trust across race, gender, class, and other group identities, both internally and externally SALARY AND BENEFITS Compensation: Commensurate with experience. United We Dream offers a competitive salary, and comprehensive benefits package including paid vacation, health insurance, retirement plans, and life insurance. Base pay ranges $25.00 per hour with a max of 15 hours per week Location: As UWD is a remote-first workplace, this is a part-time position. Learn more about United We Dream by visiting www.unitedwedream.org POSITION SUMMARY United We Dream (UWD) is looking for passionate and self-motivated Advocacy Fellows to join our Summer Leading the Dream Advocacy Fellowship program. In collaboration with the Advocacy and Campaigns Team, fellows will get training on federal, state and local advocacy, learning how to research, develop, and support the implementation of advocacy campaigns that advance immigration justice goals at all levels of government. This training will focus on levers of power and influence with governments, protecting immigrant communities from deportation and detention, and advancing pro-immigrant policies through legislative and administrative advocacy. The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to UWD’s mission, curious, resourceful, interested in learning the mechanics of federal policymaking, and eager to contribute to advocacy campaigns that elevate the voices of immigrant youth. This is a remote, part-time position. Responsibilities - Commitment to appear to all scheduled training modules. - Responsible for weekly written assignments. - Responsible for a final project involving a script and video. - Scheduling and holding Congressional advocacy meetings. - Internal and external content development for community education and rapid response. - Provide added capacity and support for research/data analysis related to federal and state/local priorities as they relate to anti-enforcement work, deportation defense, DACA, and larger undocumented population to inform our advocacy strategy. • Lead the development and implementation of UWD’s overarching narrative strategy across all media and public-facing channels • Develop narrative strategies and tactics rooted in UWD’s long-term vision, grounded in cultural and political analysis • Develop and execute rapid response strategies • Design and oversee integrated plans combining social media, earned media, and cultural tactics • Serve as the final editor and quality control for all written external content • Guide the direction and production of relevant content • Cultivate and manage relationships with media institutions and influencers • Represent UWD publicly as a spokesperson during key media and cultural moments • Manage a diverse team of employees, providing direction and feedback • Ensure all messaging and content align with UWD’s brand identity
