Role Description We’re looking for a strong full-stack developer who can build polished front-end experiences while also contributing across backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and integrations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across the stack — from React interfaces and APIs to AWS infrastructure and modern AI-powered applications. You’ll work on a mix of customer-facing applications, internal tools, integrations, and emerging AI/knowledge-graph initiatives. You'll partner with other members of our team, ensuring high-quality development practices and reliable project delivery. This is a full-time permanent position and primarily remote, with a possibility to work from our downtown Toronto office for residents of that area. What You’ll Do - Build and maintain modern web applications using React and TypeScript - Develop backend services, APIs, and integrations - Deploy and manage applications in AWS - Work with WordPress integrations and customizations where needed - Collaborate on AI-powered workflows and data-driven applications - Contribute to architecture, technical planning, and product decisions - Improve application performance, reliability, and developer workflows - Work closely with product, design, and leadership teams Qualifications - 5+ years of professional web development experience - Demonstrated experience delivering complex web platforms and integrations - Experience mentoring developers within a collaborative engineering environment - Strong front-end development experience with React - Experience building full-stack web applications - Solid JavaScript/TypeScript skills - Backend development experience (Node.js preferred) - Experience with AWS services and deployment workflows - Experience working with REST APIs and third-party integrations - Proficiency with Git-based workflows and modern development practices - Strong understanding of web performance, accessibility standards, and security - Comfortable working independently and owning projects - Strong communication and problem-solving skills Nice to Have - WordPress development or headless WordPress experience - Experience with Graph Databases (Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, etc.) - Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs and workflows - Experience with vector search, embeddings, or RAG architectures - DevOps or infrastructure-as-code experience - Experience in fast-moving startup or agency environments Tech Stack Our stack includes technologies such as: - React - TypeScript - Node.js - AWS - WordPress - Graph databases - AI/LLM integrations You don’t need experience with every technology listed, but you should be comfortable learning new tools quickly. Role Description The Web Developer contributes to the delivery of modern, enterprise-grade digital experiences, primarily leveraging WordPress VIP, along with AI and other contemporary web technologies. The Web Developer owns high-complexity projects end-to-end and leads technical design and architecture at the project level and ensures scalable, secure and maintainable solutions. Working within a collaborative, cross-functional environment, the Web Developer translates business and user requirements into custom digital solutions that meet client objectives and drive business growth. What you will do - Web Development & Implementation: - Develop, customize and deliver responsive, dynamic, secure, scalable and easy to maintain web solutions, mostly through complex projects, using modern engineering practices and relevant coding standards. - Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code following industry best practices. - Convert design mockups and wireframes into fully functional, interactive web pages. - Implement and manage content management systems (CMS), primarily WordPress VIP, including plugin customization and theme development. - Develop enterprise-level WordPress plugins and/or themes primarily using PHP and Gutenberg blocks in React.js. - Manage integrations with third-party tools, APIs, and plugins. - AI-Enhanced Development & Innovation: - Evaluates and integrates AI tools and workflows into development practices. - Continuously explore and adopt emerging technologies and practices to enhance development workflows. - Contribute to improving team efficiency through better use of tools, automation, and development practices. - Testing and Debugging: - Perform testing and debugging to ensure high-quality performance and smooth user experience across all browsers and devices. - Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, errors, performance and security issues. - Conduct regular website maintenance and security updates. - Anticipates potential risks, establishes testing strategies, and mentors others in troubleshooting. - Optimization and Maintenance: - Optimize websites and applications for speed, performance, scalability, SEO, and accessibility. - Maintain and update existing solutions based on client needs and evolving best practices. - Design optimization strategies for complex environments; ensure long-term maintainability and system reliability. - Documentation: - Ensure complete and high quality documentation for complex projects, review and improve team documentation. - Ensure documentation supports collaboration, knowledge sharing, and future scalability. - Collaboration & Teamwork: - Leads technical discussions with clients and internal teams. - Collaborate with design, engineering, quality assurance, product and project management teams to understand project requirements and deliver results that meet business objectives. - Manage time effectively and meet project deadlines while handling multiple tasks. - Assist other developers on the team with architectural reviews, code reviews and other peer reviews, supporting a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team environment. Qualifications - A post-secondary education in IT, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). - 5+ years of experience in web development across varying project complexity, ideally in a digital marketing agency. - Strong knowledge and experience working with WordPress CMS, including custom themes, Gutenberg blocks, plugins, and CMS management. - Experience with WordPress at the enterprise level (VIP) is a strong asset. - Experience working with diverse clients, industries and project types is an asset. - Experience using AI tools to improve efficiency and quality. Requirements - Advanced proficiency with various engineering technologies including PHP, JavaScript, HTML, jQuery, SQL, CSS, React, and related web technologies. - Advanced knowledge of engineering technologies, code versioning tools, server management tools and processes as well as testing and debugging tools. - Advanced knowledge of RESTful APIs and third-party integrations. - Advanced understanding of web performance optimization, SEO, and web accessibility standards. - Exposure to modern web architectures (e.g., headless or composable approaches) is an asset.
