Role Description This is your opportunity to lead, shape, and elevate a specialist Clinical Negligence team within a firm where purpose genuinely matters. We’re looking for an accomplished Clinical Negligence Lawyer to step into a senior leadership role — whether you’re already operating at this level or you’re ready to take the next step in your career. This role offers the chance to lead, mentor, and supervise a talented team while working on high‑quality, high‑value cases that make a real difference to clients’ lives. Our flexible working policy means the successful candidate can be based anywhere in the UK. As Principal Lawyer, you will: - Lead by example — running high value, complex litigation. - Provide strategic and operational direction for junior team members. - Ensure exceptional client care at every stage of the journey. - Manage your own caseload. - Work with senior management to drive the financial and operational success of the team. - Be a key contributor to business development. - Nurture and grow relationships with Trade Unions, members, and private clients. - Raise the team’s profile and help shape its long‑term success. - Work with senior colleagues within the National Clinical Negligence team to help meet the strategic goals of the firm. Qualifications - Experience of running complex clinical negligence litigation. - Strong supervisory, mentoring, and leadership capability. - A desire to maximise team performance and continuous improvement. - Confidence in billing, forecasting, and cost recovery. - Relevant accreditation (Law Society, AVMA, or equivalent) is beneficial. Requirements - Whether you’re an established leader or looking to step up into a senior leadership role, we’re waiting to hear from you. Benefits - £5,500 annual car allowance. - Generous contributory pension scheme to help you plan for the future. - Life assurance for peace of mind. - Permanent health insurance offering long-term security. - Annual travel and parking loans. - Cycle to Work scheme. - Subsidised sports and social club to help you stay active and connected. - Healthcare Cash Plan (Medicash) for everyday medical costs. - Employee Assistance Programme providing 24/7 confidential support. - A genuinely supportive, people-first working environment that prioritises teamwork and work-life balance. - 30 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays. - An additional 5 days’ leave over Christmas. - Enhanced maternity and paternity pay, supporting you and your family when it matters most.
