Job Description We are seeking an exceptional Senior Software Engineer to spearhead our technical vision and drive the implementation of complex technology solutions in our Digital team. This pivotal role combines technical leadership with hands-on development, requiring expertise in Python, JavaScript (React), Java, SQL/NoSQL databases, cloud technologies, and data lake/warehouse solutions like Snowflake. You will be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge technologies, including agentic/generative AI and DevSecOps practices, to advance seeds research and development in agricultural technology. Key Accountabilities: - Lead the architectural design and implementation of high-performance, scalable software systems that address complex business needs. - Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute product strategies and technology roadmaps. - Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, including coding standards, testing methodologies, and code review processes. - Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance our technological capabilities and maintain our competitive edge in agricultural technology. Qualifications PLEASE NOTE: Candidates must reside in and be permanently authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship. This includes, but is not limited to, OPT, CPT, and H-1B visa holders. Required: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM discipline. - 10+ years of extensive architecture, design, and development experience. - Expertise in Python, TypeScript, React, Java, cloud, SQL/NoSQL, and data lake/warehouse, such as Snowflake - Skilled in containerization and microservices. - Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale distributed systems. - Strong understanding of software security and data protection. - Leadership and team management skills. This role will conduct agricultural science research throughout Nebraska, while actively contributing as a member of the Heartland Region's Crop Protection Field Development team. Remote across Nebraska Accountabilities: - Conduct early-stage research trials with an emphasis on insect, weed, and plant pathogen management, as well as studies related to seed care and biological solutions. - Oversee and collaborate on quality efficacy trials, supporting comprehensive biological profiling and label creation for both new and existing product concepts across all crop types and indications within the region. - Participate in or oversee project planning and the development of experimental objectives, ensure the effective implementation of trials, and facilitate the generation or acquisition of relevant data and information. - Analyze trial data and offer recommendations for further development. Identify opportunities for expanding product labels, exploring new applications, and implementing innovative solutions. - Organize trials in collaboration with universities, extension partners, and contract research organizations to ensure that Syngenta products and solutions are properly represented and recommended. - Deliver technical support and conduct training sessions; organize and oversee demonstration trials to facilitate education for both internal and external customers. - Supply detailed technical data and documentation to support specific labeling initiatives at the local, state, and regional levels. Qualifications Required: - M.S. in one of the agricultural sciences such as Weed Science, Entomology, or Plant Pathology/Nematology is required. - A minimum of 5 years' experience in agricultural sciences (Weed Science, Entomology, or Plant Pathology/Nematology), including applied sciences training, is required with an M.S. - A minimum of 3 years' experience in agricultural sciences (Weed Science, Entomology, or Plant Pathology/Nematology), including applied sciences training, is required with a Ph.D. - Experience conducting biological field trials to evaluate the efficacy and crop response of insect, disease, and weed control products, biostimulants, and biologicals and related experimental techniques. - Excellent agronomy and/or crop production knowledge and skills. - Must have basic farming skills and hands-on experience with agricultural planting, tillage, and application equipment. - Understanding new procedures, working to optimize the efficiency between Crop Protection Field Development and other departments within Syngenta. - Generate innovative solutions; challenge the status quo and push boundaries; try different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities. - Required to work beyond normal workday hours. - Travel requirements include up to 25% within assigned territory, with occasional travel outside designated territory required.
