• Treat customers with courtesy and politeness (say good morning/afternoon/evening and ask how you can help, etc.). • Show empathy toward customers (put yourself in their place and serve them the way you would like to be served). • When requested, stop what you are doing and give the customer your full attention. • Act ethically and professionally at work; avoid using slang, speaking loudly, or discussing topics that might embarrass the customer. • When requested, note shortages and suggestions; if a customer has questions about a product’s location, accompany them to the correct area. • Turn on all machines and equipment needed for daily operations. • Set all doughs to proof/rise. • After a few hours, place products in the oven to bake. • Brush sweet pastries/doughs as required. • Score breads each morning so they rise evenly. • Clean the counter before placing products for sale. • Place all ready-for-sale items on the display counters. • Organize other products to be put on sale. • Pay close attention to expiration dates of products on display. • Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of pans, cabinets, ovens, and counters. • At the end of the shift, perform a complete cleaning of the department and the equipment used.
