Role Description Lead and manage Sunrise’s electoral interns in swing districts/states to execute our strategy of direct action, narrative intervention, and voter contact. (70%) - Manage a group of 8-12 interns by providing coaching, feedback, and leadership development. - Support interns in setting and achieving ambitious goals related to voter contact, team growth/recruitment, and metrics to track and grow media attention/narrative impact. - Coach and develop interns on planning creative direct actions, training and coaching other students, and building teams. - Travel to campuses in swing states to support trainings and actions. - Partner with the Field Director to design and implement Sunrise’s swing state campus strategy. Train and coach Sunrise members to mobilize against threats to democracy (30%) - Coach Sunrise volunteers through scenario planning and strategic decision making to prepare for interference in elections. - Train hubs in developing and executing action plans that strengthen their ability for rapid response organizing. Qualifications - Experience organizing college students on campus in pressure or electoral campaigns. - Two years of experience managing, supervising, coaching, or developing organizers, interns, volunteers, or staff. - Experience planning and executing direct actions that make strong narrative interventions. - Experience organizing in a membership organization building leadership and a base. - Experience building and/or leading a multiracial and cross-class team. - Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects, teams, etc. at the same time. - Commitment to the vision of the Green New Deal. - Be creative and committed to electoral organizing with a desire to inspire and excite others to volunteer. Requirements - Experience in a leadership role in a Sunrise Movement hub. - Experience with electoral organizing in swing states or districts. - Experience with leading teams to use voter contact, and distributed and relational organizing tools (i.e. Votebuilder, EveryAction, Reach, Empower). - Experience managing projects and teams that span different geographies. Role Description The Finance Manager provides integral support for all Financial planning and analysis functions at the organization. They are a backstop for vital areas of financial oversight, monitoring the fiscal health of all Sunrise entities while ensuring clear data is created to inform the Board and Leadership. They provide crucial systems management, monitor cash flows, oversee restricted funds, maintain vendor relationships, train staff to create dependable data on the front end, and ensure the organization’s books are compliant and in line with GAAP and audit standards. They push to innovate and develop much needed systems that will improve reporting and oversight, and they will open up much needed capacity for Finance to better support Programmatic work. The Finance Manager reports to the Finance Director. Qualifications - 3+ years of financial management experience - Understands the basics of accounting principles including budgeting, balance sheets, income statements, AP/AR, cash flow, and capital planning management - Financial and fundraising forecasting and budget development experience - Experience designing and building innovative systems - Familiarity with or willingness to learn systems used by Sunrise Movement, such as Sage Intacct, ADP, Emburse, Bill.com - A proven track record of success on strong project management with a commitment to the details - Ability to motivate, organize, and respond to employees of many different areas of expertise - Proactive problem solving skills - Ability to work as an independent contributor and as part of a team - Strong prioritization and time-management skills - Familiarity with federal compliance and nonprofit reporting, including 990s, audits, and restricted grant management Requirements - Strong understanding of nonprofit financial management, including budgeting, financial forecasting, restricted grant tracking, and financial reporting - Ability to design, improve, and maintain financial and operational systems that increase transparency, accountability, and efficiency - Able to organize complex work, set clear processes, and ensure timely completion of financial reporting, vendor management, and compliance tasks - Ability to create financial and ops systems that are clear, accessible, and supportive of staff with diverse backgrounds and levels of financial experience - Approaches finance and operations as tools that support organizers and program teams Benefits - 100% paid premiums for health care, dental, and vision - Unlimited paid vacation days with a minimum of 20 days per year - Parental leave and caregiver leave - Unlimited sick time and additional time off - Annual professional development fund and tech office budget - Option to contribute to 401k
Role Description The Individual Giving Manager works with the Fundraising Director to lead and execute on Sunrise’s individual giving strategy. This includes managing donor relations, growing Sunrise’s donor portfolio, and training staff and volunteers on fundraising skills. Role and Responsibilities - Donor Engagement & Fundraising (70%) - In partnership with the Fundraising Director, set strategy and execute plans for grassroots and major donor individual giving campaigns. - Lead strategy for donor follow-up, including weekly call time, thank yous, and other follow-ups as needed. - Steward and solicit Major Donor portfolio with support from Fundraising Director. - Develop strategy for and maintain a direct mail program by planning and coordinating donor touches. - Produce quarterly digital newsletters and email updates to donors as needed. Work with the Communications team to align on fundraising emails. - Develop Sunrise’s Giving Circle program with support from Fundraising Director. - Manage fundraising staff member(s) to assist with this work. - Staff Fundraising (20%) - Plan and coordinate Sunrise staff to participate in quarterly thankbanks & fundraising phonebanks to donors. - Strategize with program staff to integrate fundraising strategies into other Sunrise staff teams’ work. - Plan and execute an end of year individual fundraising campaign for Sunrise staff. Oversee staff solicitation of grassroots donations as part of this campaign. - Develop and run trainings for staff and volunteers on how class privilege relates to fundraising. - Volunteer Fundraising Support (10%) - Develop and execute plans for how Sunrise’s fundraising team develops the skills and capacity of Sunrise members to raise money to support organizing work, including: - Leadership development and training for Sunrise hubs. - Coaching and mentorship. - Developing guides and resources. - Collaborating with Operations and Finance departments to ensure hub fundraising is legally compliant. Qualifications - 2+ years of experience doing individual fundraising (not simply grants management). - Strongly aligns with Sunrise Fundraising Principles. - Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills; persistent go-getter attitude with ability to read the room. - Ability to draft persuasive and rousing written communications without relying on ChatGPT or AI resources. - A collaborative approach, relational skills, and the ability and desire to succeed as a member of a team. - Strong class analysis and comfort in talking about money; ability to welcome people who don’t want to talk about money to open up about money. - Has a track record of effectively pitching social movements to funders. - Show a strong commitment to Sunrise’s strategy and the movement for a Green New Deal. - Willingness and ability to travel. - Some experience using EveryAction and/or other CRMs. Requirements - Management experience (nice to have, but not necessary). - Experience with digital fundraising campaigns and strategies (nice to have, but not necessary). - Experience with planned giving programs (nice to have, but not necessary). Benefits - Compensation: $65,500-$73,817 annually depending on years of experience.
