Role Description We are seeking a Mid-Level Java Developer with experience developing and supporting enterprise applications in a legacy Operations & Maintenance (O&M) environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong Java background and experience working with legacy technologies such as ColdFusion and PowerBuilder to support system enhancements, troubleshoot production issues, and assist with modernization efforts while ensuring system stability and operational continuity. - Design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise applications in a legacy Operations & Maintenance (O&M) environment using Java/J2EE technologies. - Support and enhance existing applications built on legacy platforms including ColdFusion and PowerBuilder. - Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to maintain system stability and performance. - Develop and maintain Java web services and system integrations using SOAP and REST APIs. - Write efficient, maintainable, and reliable code while supporting modernization and cloud migration initiatives where applicable. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an agile environment with a focus on code quality, testing, and operational support. - Maintain security configurations, ensuring all code complies with security standards. - Participate in release management, deployments, system maintenance activities, and documentation updates. Qualifications - Minimum of four years of experience with Java/J2EE application development and support in an enterprise environment. - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. - Experience supporting and maintaining legacy applications in cloud-hosted environments, preferably involving ColdFusion and/or PowerBuilder. - Experience developing and supporting Java web services, including SOAP and RESTful APIs. - Working knowledge of frameworks and technologies such as Spring, Hibernate, or JPA. - Experience with relational databases and SQL development; PostgreSQL or Sybase experience is preferred. - Familiarity with frontend technologies including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, XML, and AJAX. - Experience using version control systems and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, or Bamboo. - Ability to troubleshoot application, integration, and production support issues in a fast-paced O&M environment. - Must be a US Citizen and must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll architect, build, and enhance ServiceNow solutions used across a mission‑driven organization. This role is short-term (7+ months), REMOTE ROLE (NCR/Washington, DC area ONLY) which requires US citizenship and Public Trust eligibility required. Responsibilities - Develop, configure, and customize ServiceNow applications, including workflows, business rules, UI actions, and client scripts. - Implement and manage modules such as ITSM, CSM, CMDB, Service Catalog, SPM/PPM, and FSM. - Create and maintain integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, MID servers, and custom scripts. - Work with product owners and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements and translate them into ServiceNow solutions. - Design and configure portal views using AngularJS, Bootstrap, and ServiceNow widgets. - Support existing applications by troubleshooting issues, performing root cause analysis, and implementing fixes or enhancements. - Lead and participate in ServiceNow upgrade and migration projects. - Maintain security configurations, including ACLs, roles, and group management. - Provide documentation and training to end-users and technical teams. - Develop reports, dashboards, and analytics to track system performance and business processes. Qualifications - 7+ years of experience as a ServiceNow Developer. - Strong understanding of the ServiceNow security model, ACLs, and user/group administration. - Experience with API development, Service Portal, and Custom Applications in ServiceNow. - Proficiency in JavaScript, AngularJS, Java, HTML, CSS, MySQL/SQL. - Experience with ServiceNow integrations using REST/SOAP APIs. - Hands-on experience with custom application development and Scoped Applications. - Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and best practices. - ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification (preferred). - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
