Role Description We are seeking a Publishing Manager to join the team. We are looking for someone who is both a world-class project manager and a true service professional. You will be the one responsible for guiding our authors on their journey in publishing by ensuring we've given them the feedback and tools they need to have a book they're proud of. You'll do this by: - Setting expectations early and often - Proactively communicating updates - Managing dozens of tasks and timelines - Providing the author with a smooth, professional experience You are the author's advocate, leader, and advisor on their publishing journey. Qualifications - Incredible Project Management Skills: 6-8 years of experience owning projects and processes. - Impeccable Attention to Detail: Every detail matters in publishing. - Excellent Communication Skills: Comfortable with phone and video communication. - Exceptional Social Intelligence: Ability to work with diverse personalities and manage expectations. - Service Mindedness: Experience with high-end clientele and complex problem-solving. - Strategic and Critical Thinking: Thrive in fast-paced environments and adapt to change. - Self-Motivated: Definition of a doer, able to work independently. Requirements - Manage projects from signing through publishing and beyond. - Customize each author's book project based on their goals. - Ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and with excellence. - Communicate across all areas of the business to meet authors' needs. - Help authors solve day-to-day problems related to publishing. - Address authors' fears or anxieties regarding the publishing process. - Proactively communicate expectations to authors. - Work with the team to ensure all work reflects the author's voice and intent. Benefits - $85k salary - Commission for selling add-on services to authors. - 90% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance (50% for dependents). - Five weeks paid time off including holidays and the week between Christmas and New Year's. - Up to 4% 401k match. - Generous parental leave policy.
