Junior FOIA Analyst Location: Remote, Washington D.C. Full-time or Part-time Entry-level Job Description: Position Summary Savan is seeking full-time and part-time Junior FOIA Analysts to support a federal agency's FOIA program in addressing a significant backlog of FOIA requests. This entry-level role involves performing a variety of FOIA processing and administrative tasks in support of an agency that delivers public-facing services through grants and direct assistance, resulting in a high volume of FOIA requests. Role Responsibilities: - Receives, reviews, logs, and tracks incoming FOIA requests in agency FOIA case management systems. - Assists in conducting searches for responsive records across agency programs and electronic systems. - Reviews documents for completeness, accuracy, and responsiveness. - Applies established FOIA exemptions and markings following agency guidance and senior analyst review. - Organizes and maintains FOIA case files to ensure accuracy, consistency, and audit readiness. - Prepares draft acknowledgment letters, interim responses, final responses, and routine correspondence. - Monitors statutory deadlines and independently tracks assigned cases to ensure timely processing. - Enters and maintains accurate data in FOIA tracking systems, spreadsheets, and reports. - Handles sensitive, confidential, and personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with federal regulations. - Identifies discrepancies, missing information, or potential issues and proactively elevates them to senior staff. - Assists with FOIA metrics, reporting, and administrative support as required. Qualifications and Requirements: - BA/BS degree with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience required. H.S Diploma and 7 years of experience or Associate's Degree and 5 years of experience are also acceptable. - Expertise in FOIA processing with the ability to analyze information and apply FOIA guidelines to routine requests. - Experience using automated tools and case management systems, such as Secure Release and FOIA Xpress. - Strong attention to detail with the ability to review records for accuracy, consistency, and compliance. - Highly organized and able to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously. - Self-starter who demonstrates initiative, accountability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Ability to interact independently with government clients and stakeholders. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills appropriate for formal government correspondence. Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552) and basic understanding of FOIA exemptions and timelines - Prior experience supporting FOIA, Privacy Act, records management, legal, or compliance program within a federal government environment. Savan Group is seeking a CUI/CBI Regulatory Analyst to support a federal client in implementing and sustaining its Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and Confidential Business Information (CBI) programs. This role requires strong program support, policy analysis, coordination skills, and familiarity with federal information systems. The analyst will apply knowledge of federal information protection requirements, including those related to the handling, marking, dissemination, and safeguarding of CUI. The role focuses on translating regulatory and policy requirements into practical, actionable approaches. Responsibilities include supporting discovery and analysis efforts, reviewing system information, identifying applicable protection controls, and helping drive consistent adoption of CUI/CBI practices across the agency. This position also supports program execution by helping develop processes, engage stakeholders, and implement repeatable approaches that strengthen compliance with federal CUI and CBI requirements.
