Role Description Royal Voluntary Service has an opportunity available for a Product Manager to join our Product Team, working from home. You will join us on a part-time, fixed term contract until 31st March 2027, and in return, you will receive a salary of £38,041 per annum (£63,403 FTE). We’re currently undergoing a significant digital transformation programme and as part of this work, we have launched GoVo, a cutting-edge greenfield platform to ignite a volunteering revolution. This includes a design system specifically built by Royal Voluntary Service for GoVo. We’re looking for a delivery-focused Product Manager who thrives on turning ideas into reality and keeping teams aligned, informed, and moving forward. In this role, you’ll take ownership of delivering meaningful improvements to GoVo, which is RVS’s volunteering platform used by thousands of volunteering organisations to find volunteers, and is a B2B SaaS offering for companies improving their employee volunteering. You will be shaping product requirements from ideation through to launch and continuous optimisation. You’ll work with product, engineering, and stakeholders across the organisation, ensuring work is well-prioritised, clearly communicated, and successfully executed. You will join us on full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a salary ranging from £26,749 to £30,570 per annum, depending on experience. About the Communications & Social Media Officer role: Royal Voluntary Service has developed a game-changing new digital platform, GoVo, to boost volunteering in Britain — made possible thanks to £5 million in funding from the Postcode Lottery. GoVo has been built in response to the significant volunteer shortage facing charities across the UK. Research suggests that up to 164 million additional volunteering hours per month could be unlocked if flexible, digital access to opportunities was available. Launched in Autumn 2025, GoVo removes barriers to volunteering, making it easier for people to give their time and for organisations to recruit and retain the support they need. ​ What you’ll bring to the Communications & Social Media Officer role: Joining us as Communications & Social Media Officer for Royal Voluntary Service, you will use your experience to support the development and delivery of effective communications to the charity’s external and internal stakeholders. You provide vital support to both the Communications and Social Media teams dividing your time between the both. Half of your time you will be planning, developing and analysing lifecycle communications and standalone email communications that encourage action and influence behaviour among key audiences (volunteers, charities and corporates) for Royal Voluntary Service and for our new digital volunteering platform GoVo. The remainder of your time will be spent developing engaging and informative social content for the charity’s national pages and for GoVo and GoVo for Business, conveying our aims, values, messages and personality. You will also be required to use your community management skills to respond to comments and messages. Hours: 35 per week Location: Homebased with occasional national travel This is what we're looking for: Knowledge - A BA or equivalent qualification or demonstratable experience is required - Awareness of trends in social media platforms and digital content formats. Experience - At least two years’ experience working in a digital communications role - Experience writing effective copy with the ability to communicate on a range of subjects - Experience using an email marketing or CRM platform (e.g. HubSpot, Dotdigital, Mailchimp or similar) - Experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn & TikTok), including creating content calendars and community engagement. - Experience working within a team environment and collaborating with cross-functional departments. Skills - This is a role which requires confident writing at pace. The post holder is required to write in a variety of styles for our different communications channels in a way that is engaging, grammatically correct and appropriate, maintaining the RVS tone of voice, while motivating action, supporting behaviour change, and guiding users from activation through to follow-through using nudges. - Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook - Proficiency in digital tools, including CMS, social media management platforms, and Google Analytics. - Managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and colleagues at all levels - Juggling multiple projects and deadlines at the same time and to a high standard - Excellent attention to detail and proofreading abilities to ensure content accuracy and quality. - Time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. - Basic graphic design skills using tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva (preferred). - The post holder must remain calm in all situations and must have a friendly and approachable manner - The post holder must have creative skills to generate imagery, video and audio content on photoshop and video editing platforms like CapCut. This is what you'll be doing: Lifecycle & digital communications - Plan, build and deliver email communications that reduce friction and helps users move from intention to action at key stages of the user journey, including onboarding, activation, nudges and re-engagement - Support the creation and ongoing improvement of automated email journeys using platforms such as HubSpot and Dotdigital - Help segment audiences using available behavioural and engagement data to ensure communications are timely and relevant - Write clear, value-led messaging that focuses on user motivation Testing, insight & optimisation - Review performance data to understand how communications drive user action (e.g. sign-ups, applications, repeat engagement). - Use insights to test, refine and optimise communications, ensuring success is measured by behavioural outcomes (e.g. logins, applications, repeat engagement) - Support a test-and-learn approach by refining messaging, timing and sequencing based on results and feedback - Provide practical recommendations to improve the effectiveness of lifecycle communications over time - Monitor trends, tools and best practices to continually to inform strategies Develop social media content - Explore, develop and schedule content on our main social media accounts, ensuring requests that are sent our way are picked up and colleagues/teams are kept up-to-date with our plans. - Support the fundraising team to advertise our fundraising events and increase donation revenue. - Upload news stories and blogs to the RVS website. Inputting into discussions about website content and wider comms where it helps to promote RVS and the work we and our volunteers do. - Work with the social media manager to create advertising campaigns across our social media channels to help with overall goals of the charity, including recruitment and brand recognition. - Create all formats of content and assets which will promote our own campaigns, initiatives and activity from the wider marketing function that can be used across social media channels, news channels and blog. - Contribute to influencer outreaching and celebrity engagement to break into new audience demographics and grow engagement figures. - Work with the local RVS teams so that they can access their regional RVS Facebook page and use to their best advantage. Training is often needed to ensure they’re protecting the charity’s reputation. Liaise with and supply them with assets and materials to support central campaigns. - Make use of scheduling software (currently using Orlo software) and reporting tools to measure the impact and effectiveness of RVS on social media and make improvements as required. Community management - Interact with our audiences; responding to comments and questions, both negative and positive, promptly, professionally and positively so as to avoid any potential conflict and retain the charity’s reputation. Escalate potential issues and incidents to most appropriate RVS contact. Wider communications support - Provide support to the Virtual Village Hall social media team where necessary - Produce engaging copy for a range of audiences, including volunteers, public, charities and staff - Support internal communications activity as required, including staff updates and webinars - Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver communications activity aligned to organisational priorities - Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the purpose and remit of the post.
