ABOUT THE TEAM 🤝 As part of Rocket Money's Financial Health and Habits group, the Engagement team is focused on delivering mobile and web experiences that delight the user. You’ll develop and employ user engagement strategies from initial touchpoints through long-term retention, along with stewarding some of the most highly trafficked surfaces and experiences in the application, including the main Dashboard experience and more. IN THIS ROLE, YOU'LL: - Work alongside a team to implement, iterate, and debug product features that drive forward both the company and the user. - Own complex features end-to-end, from initial product & technical design stages through to production, ensuring the appropriate engineering rigor has been applied for scalability, reliability, and observability. - Develop with TypeScript across the stack, building user interfaces using React Native and the backend support required to power them with Node & GraphQL. - Be a steward of good user experience, ensuring that the interfaces we present to our users are performant, understandable, and delightful. - Help to maintain our high technical bar, participating in code reviews and design discussions to ensure that we're applying appropriate rigor to our software development process. - Partner with Product, Design, and Data to understand the behaviors and preferences of our users. - Support a collaborative and innovative culture by sharing your ideas via RFCs, participating in solution ideation, and giving your peers thoughtful feedback on their code and their proposals. ABOUT YOU 🦄 - You have 5+ years of professional experience working with some combination of Node.js, React, React-Native, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL (or similar relational database). - You're both a student and a teacher, continually seeking to grow as an engineer and help those around you grow as well. - You're not just interested in what you're building, but also why you're building it. You want to see the bigger picture of how the software you're building is benefiting our users. - You thrive in a growing organization, and are not afraid of a challenging problem. Role Description We are looking for an Associate Counsel to join our fast-growing team. As a core member of our awesome legal team, you will work directly with our General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel and be expected to accelerate our velocity by: - Working with the business to efficiently and proactively identify ways to increase opportunity, mitigate risk, and eliminate legal blockers. - Driving our business forward while enhancing our strategic goals and vision. - Collaborating across teams in a supportive and forthright atmosphere. Working with our team, you will: - Act as a true legal partner to internal business teams on a variety of topics pertaining to agreements, compliance, privacy, security, marketing, and financial regulations. - Provide strong technical and commercial excellence to identify legal risk and find innovative solutions to any issues that arise. - Draft, review and negotiate agreements. - Collaborate to manage external counsel when necessary. - Build trust and support business stakeholders. - Stay apprised of relevant regulatory developments. Qualifications - JD degree & current admission. - 3+ years of relevant legal experience at a law firm or in-house (with at least 2 years consecutively within one of your recent roles preferred). - Strong drafting experience. - Experience with a fast-growing startup environment preferred. - Ability to cover multiple areas of law and learn new areas quickly. - Ability to proactively, efficiently, and accurately assess and communicate legal business risks in a fast-paced environment. - Experience with technology, digital product counsel work, IP, and/or data privacy/security is worth noting. - Track record of creative problem-solving and creation of strong and trusted cross-functional relationships. - Proactive personality and eagerness to dig in and learn about the business, the industry, and new areas of the law and applicable regulations. - Experience working with product, marketing, data, and engineering teams to provide actionable counsel or with any form of technology team either as a lawyer or in other career phases is likely to be helpful.
