About the team The Activation & Retention team owns the experience that turns first-time visitors into active users and keeps them coming back. That means building and maintaining some of Reverb's most critical products like the Feed that hundreds of thousands of music makers use every day, along with the onboarding flows, notifications, and personalization systems that shape the full journey. We're looking for a full-stack engineer to join our team. You'll work across our Rails app, React frontend, and GraphQL gateway to ship features that directly shape how music makers discover gear and stay connected with Reverb. You'll collaborate closely with other full-stack and iOS engineers, product, and design to build experiences that matter. This is a full-time, hybrid position reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager. Our hybrid team members work from our Chicago office once a week [on Tuesdays] and come together for quarterly org on-sites and our yearly Reverbfest. Responsibilities - Ship full-stack features across our Rails/React/GraphQL codebases, building comfort in new parts of the stack as you go - Own features end-to-end from scoping and definition through testing, rollout and monitoring - Collaborate across engineering, product, and design to scope and refine early concepts and see through release - Debug production issues methodically and clearly communicate problems with your team - Participate in code review, contribute to architecture and documentation, and advocate for tech debt and testing as part of your regular work - Take ownership of the health and performance of your team's services, not just the work you ship Requirements - 2-4 years of professional software engineering experience - Solid fundamentals in Ruby/Rails and JavaScript/React and comfort working across the stack - Familiarity with GraphQL or eagerness to learn it - Understanding of web architecture, including the separation of frontend and backend concerns and thoughtful API design - Clear communicator who can scope and explain tradeoffs to engineers, product managers, and designers alike - Experience with AI workflows, TypeScript, Datadog, Docker, Kubernetes, and GitHub Actions is a plus We write code that matters to music makers. About the role We're looking for an experienced Engineering Manager within the Infrastructure Engineering group to lead our Security Engineering team. Security engineering at Reverb is responsible for leading, designing, and building secure systems and practices for our e-commerce platform. They are highly involved in planning technical systems, designing secure practices, governance, and proactive engagement with the engineering and product organizations. The Security Engineering Manager leads our security engineers and analysts in protecting, planning, and building scalable, hardened systems across our architecture. You'll be leading these security professionals by contributing to project oversight and planning, security assessments, long-term scope planning, proactive and preventative approaches, and being a collaborative management professional who can quickly lead our organization to make safe and practical decisions. This is a full-time, hybrid position reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager of our Data Engineering team. Our hybrid team members work from our Chicago office once a week [on Tuesdays]. Local candidates are preferred; however, we are open to fully remote candidates within the US for the right fit.
