Role Summary Revamp is seeking a Substation Engineering Intern to support utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) interconnection projects. This role focuses on high-voltage substation design and protection systems that connect renewable energy facilities to the grid. You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop electrical drawings, support the development of protection schemes, and improve internal tools and standards. Ideal candidates are actively pursuing an electrical engineering degree and have academic exposure to power systems, with prior internship experience considered a plus. Internship Program Details • Twelve-week full-time summer program, remote or in-office if local. • Approximately 40 hours per week during the summer term. • Schedule flexibility may be available to accommodate academic calendars. • Interns work under the direction of a designated manager. • Interns may be evaluated for future full-time employment opportunities upon graduation. Duties & Responsibilities Engineering & Technical Responsibilities • Assist in the design of high-voltage substations used to interconnect utility-scale solar and BESS projects to transmission and distribution systems. • Prepare and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD with accuracy and efficiency. • Support development and refinement of protection and control scheme templates. • Incorporate markups and redlines from senior engineers into construction and interconnection drawing packages. • Develop knowledge of equipment selection and electrical requirements for stepping up medium-voltage systems to high-voltage points of interconnection. • Support preparation of interconnection application drawings and documentation. • Assist in creating and improving internal instructional documentation related to substation and protection design. • Apply foundational electrical engineering principles learned through academic coursework. • Support automation initiatives using tools such as Excel (including VBA), SQL, Python, Substation Design Suite, or similar platforms to enhance workflow efficiency. • Perform routine technical work under close supervision. Role Summary The Senior Electrical Engineer (High Voltage, Protection & Controls) role leads the design and delivery of protection, control, and communication systems for renewable energy and high-voltage substation projects. This role independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of protection and control engineering principles across a portfolio of projects and serves as a technical leader within the High Voltage team. The Senior Electrical Engineer oversees complex, multi-phase project execution from preliminary design through commissioning, ensuring technical excellence, quality assurance, and alignment with Revamp standards. This role acts as a discipline lead on projects, supports client technical interactions, mentors junior engineers, and drives continuous improvement in design standards, tools, and processes. This position requires strong independent judgment, technical depth in high-voltage protection systems, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions. Duties & Responsibilities Project Delivery & Execution - Lead the protection and controls engineering scope for complex renewable energy and substation projects. - Independently develop and review complex electrical engineering plans, details, and calculations. - Oversee preparation and quality review of electrical design drawings, including one-line and three-line diagrams, panel elevations, AC/DC schematics, AC/DC cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and related documentation. - Lead power system modeling and relay coordination studies using ASPEN, ETAP, SKM, or equivalent tools, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements. - Develop and review protection and control design basis documentation, perform advanced relay setting calculations, and generate configuration files using SEL AcSELerator, GE EnerVista, or equivalent vendor tools. - Oversee development of SCADA system configurations and communication interface settings for substation equipment, including IEC 61850-based systems. - Serve as technical authority during field activities, commissioning, energization, and troubleshooting. - Develop and improve protection scheme templates, standards, and workflows to increase efficiency and technical consistency across portfolios. - Provide technical guidance on unconventional or complex engineering challenges and adapt standard approaches where necessary. Role Description Revamp is seeking a Power Systems Studies Engineer with a strong emphasis on Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) analysis. This role focuses on performing transient overvoltage and switching studies using EMT simulation tools while maintaining competency in core power system analyses.
