Position Summary Ramsey county is currently hiring a motivated and innovative Communication Associate in our Communications & Public Relations Department. The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the department or County. The Communications Associate in this role will directly provide strategic communications support to the county’s Community & Economic Development (CED) department whose mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals and families by: - Maintaining the existing housing stock - Expanding homeownership and affordable housing opportunities - Installing safe infrastructure - Remediating brownfield sites - Redeveloping under-utilized properties - Strengthening businesses - Navigating economic development resources - Encouraging job growth Responsibilities include creating engaging, accessible communications materials, including both print and digital media content, and developing strategic communications campaigns to support CED programs and initiatives. This position will also provide communications support to Housing Stability which administers and coordinates emergency supportive services to individuals and families experiencing sheltered and unsheltered homelessness or housing instability. To create educational and informational materials to promote the county’s programs, services, events and facilities; to assist with the creation, presentation, and maintenance of content about a specific department or service team's programs on the county’s public and internal websites and social media channels; produce fliers, brochures and other printed and electronic materials, including graphic design and production activities; arrange and take photographs and/or video; arrange and produce public relations and communication activities; ensure materials created by other staff or vendors meet county branding and plain language standards; and to perform related duties as assigned. The current vacancy is in the Community and Economic Development (CED) department and reports to the CED Deputy Director within the Economic Growth and Community Investment (EGCI) Service Team. This position works closely with other redevelopment project managers and housing, redevelopment, and business program managers to align work and resources in the advancement of inclusive, sustainable, and resilient development projects. This position will manage day-to-day efforts to develop or redevelop parcels of real property including, but not limited to, a current real estate portfolio that includes the complex and high-profile projects of RiversEdge and Rice Creek Common. This work includes: Coordinating with local governments, business interests, and other stakeholders to create a shared vision and process for development through effective oversight of all stages of redevelopment projects, from initial planning to construction completion. Liaising between the internal county departments, County Board, city staff and elected officials, developers, community groups, and residents. Managing project budgets, analyzing proformas, and securing funding sources and financing tools. Negotiating development agreements with private developers. Supporting business retention, expansion, and attraction opportunities.
