You will be required to support, inspect and repair track machines to ensure the continuation of important track work. Day-to-day responsibilities of this role will include: - Perform servicing, repair and maintenance on a wide variety of equipment - Use effective troubleshooting methods to repair plant breakdown and minimise downtime - Prepare and provide plant maintenance documentation and reports (tablet based) - Source technical information from reference manuals and computer-based systems - Co-ordinate and negotiate with other Divisions and Units of Queensland Rail and external suppliers to provide effective and efficient management of work programs For further details please click here to view the Position Description Hours and salary: This is opportunity is mostly a FIFO position, working locally occasionally, across our QR network 9 days on 5 days off roster, working every second weekend. Travel is in work time and paid. This is a great opportunity to explore Queensland considering the hours and FIFO nature of the role, you will receive penalty rates and various allowances, Plant Fitters currently earn $120,000 - $135,000 plus super. Your opportunity We are looking for an experienced insurance professional to join our Finance & Corporate Services team as Manager Insurance and Claims on a fixed-term contract through to February 2027, based in Brisbane. This is not a brokerage or sales position. In this strategic in-house role, you will manage Queensland Rail’s enterprise-wide Insurance Program, oversee all insurance claims and recoveries, and provide expert advice on insurance coverage and risk transfer strategies across our organisation. In this role, you will: - Lead Queensland Rail’s Insurance Program – Provide strategic oversight of our corporate insurance program, ensuring coverage is fit-for-purpose, cost-effective, and aligned with the organisation’s risk appetite and governance requirements. - Broker & Policy Management – Act as the primary liaison with our external insurance broker, negotiating policy placements and renewals ensuring timely and accurate information is provided for annual program reviews and renewals. - Claims Oversight – Oversee end-to-end management of insurance claims, ensuring timely and fair resolution of claims. Drive continuous improvements in claims processes, reporting and insights to support effective decision-making. - Third-Party Recoveries – Manage the recovery of costs from third parties responsible for damage to Queensland Rail property. Collaborate with internal teams to identify incidents, confirm third-party liability, and ensure successful cost recovery. - Strategic Advice & Risk Transfer – Advise internal stakeholders on insurance coverage requirements, risk transfer mechanisms, and insurance considerations for projects and contracts – ensuring appropriate protections are in place. We’re seeking a dedicated professional with: - Enterprise Insurance Expertise – Extensive experience managing enterprise-level insurance programs in a large, complex organisation, including hands-on involvement in policy review, placement, renewals and administration. - Risk & Coverage Knowledge – In-depth understanding of insurance principles and advanced risk transfer strategies, with the ability to develop and implement effective insurance solutions that protect an organisation’s assets. - Claims Management Skills – Proven ability to oversee complex insurance claims and recovery processes, coordinating with insurers, brokers and internal stakeholders to achieve timely, appropriate outcomes. - Analytical Aptitude – Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret insurance documentation, assess incident information, and produce clear, accurate reports to support decision-making. - Stakeholder Engagement – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a talent for building collaborative relationships and confidently advising stakeholders at all levels on insurance and risk matters. - Leadership & Integrity – Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team, driving high performance, and upholding strong ethical standards and safety focus in line with Queensland Rail’s core values.
