Role Description Reports to the Director of Democracy’s Library and will work as a member of the Democracy's Library U.S. team. Responsibilities include: - Designing, building, and maintaining technical infrastructure. - Ensuring pathways to government documents and public records can be reliably acquired, processed, and made accessible at scale to the public. - Ensuring integrity, quality, and completeness of collection data throughout the ingestion and storage lifecycle. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain automated data ingestion pipelines that integrate seamlessly with Internet Archive’s platform. - Integrate backend infrastructure with Internet Archive’s systems to ensure collections are accurately deposited, cataloged, and made accessible. - Develop and maintain Python-based scripts, tools, and services that support the library’s collection workflow from acquisition to public access. - Collaborate closely with the Collections Manager and other team members to understand content acquisition priorities and translate them into technical workflows. - Support bridge-building efforts between collections and engineering to ensure government documents and public records are reliably acquired, processed, and made accessible. - Build and maintain APIs and backend services that support internal collection management and enable easy discovery and access to library collections. - Monitor and maintain pipeline integrity and completeness of collection data throughout the ingestion and storage lifecycle. - Perform diagnostics and implement improvements to ensure reliability and completeness of collection data. - Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering best practices within the team. - Draft and maintain easy to understand technical documentation and reference guides for systems, pipelines, APIs, and data models. - Other duties may be assigned as needed. Requirements - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - Two (2) or more years of professional-level experience in a software development, data engineering, or systems development role. - Experience writing Python for data pipelines, automation, or backend systems. - Experience working with application programming interfaces (APIs); consumption, build-out, and/or maintaining them in a production environment. - Experience working with Google Workspace, Slack, Jira, and Zoom. Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Library Science, Information Science, History, Political Science, Public Administration, or a related field. - Two (2) or more years of experience working with digital collections, government documents, archival materials, or a related cataloging or metadata role. - Experience working in a digital library, archive, or open-access institution. - Experience applying metadata standards — such as Dublin Core, MARC, or similar schemas — to describe and organize digital or physical collections. - Experience working with AI tools to build efficient and effective workflows, preferably in metadata generation, automated cataloging, or image description in a professional or project setting. - Experience working with Google Workspace, Slack, and Jira. - Familiarity with U.S. government document programs, federal depository library systems, or state and local public records. Role Description Reports to the Senior Engineering Manager, Archiving & Data Services and works in the engineering team to help grow the Archiving & Data Services group’s suite of digital archiving, data, and access services for a global set of partner research, memory, and social good organizations. - Supporting and scaling our web archiving service (Archive-It). - Contributing to specific development projects for other department-managed services and systems. - Helping to build and improve foundational systems, services, and developer tools. - Operating on our self-owned and operated data centers. - Working to support products for a global coalition of institutions. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: - Lead projects across the full software development lifecycle: plan, design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions. - Engage in significant time overlaps with North America staff, working on Pacific Time. - Evolve system architectures to support future requirements, improve reliability, and reduce operational burden. - Triage, resolve, and address root causes of production issues. - Support engineering leadership with project coordination, strategic planning, and operational execution. - Work on our web archiving service (Archive-It), a service currently used by over 1000 partner organizations to archive and provide public access to web collections totaling many petabytes of data and that archives billions of files each year. - Build and improve foundational systems, services, and developer tools that support values-aligned products, at petabyte scale, operating on our self-owned and operated data centers ensuring open access to digital information for a global coalition of institutions. - Foster a culture of collaboration and learning, reinforce team processes that are working, and identify potential technology or workflow improvements. Requirements - Five (5)+ years of experience as a Software Engineer focused on infrastructure, DevOps, or site reliability. - Experience building and operating observability stacks. - Experience with Kubernetes in production environments. - Preferred: Technical leadership experience (mentoring, leading projects, design review). Role Description Reports to the Director of Archiving & Data Services and supports several organizational leaders to advance Internet Archive’s work with foundations, funders, donors, and other contributors in support of organizational activities, especially for program-specific and restricted-funding grants and gifts. - Pursuing program-specific grants and funding. - Overseeing the full life of grant administration including grant writing and management. - Managing and growing a portfolio of foundation, government, and corporate funders. - Coordinating all aspects of proposal development, compliance, and reporting. Qualifications - Five (5)+ years of experience in grant writing, grant management/administration, and/or institutional fundraising. - Experience in crafting compelling proposals and full grant applications, particularly proposals that translate technical activities and organizational goals into clear narratives and outcomes. - Proven track record in successful fundraising, especially with foundation, corporate, and government funders or similar experience with Request for Quotes, tenders, contract proposals, submissions, and management. - Experience working with Customer Relationship Management systems and grant tracking tools. - Preferred: Experience working in CiviCRM or similar fundraising or donor tracking systems. - Preferred: An advanced degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, communications, and/or a related field. - Preferred: A background working in and with non-profit organizations. - Preferred: Experience working remotely and with remote teams.
