Ontario Native Women's Association (ONWA)

• Ensures community knowledge policy is implemented and managed according to program standards and guidelines that facilitate the achievement of ONWA’s nine strategic issues related to policy • Provides leadership to the policy team to ensure analysis is completed through an Indigenous Gender-Based Analysis and human rights lens • Collaborates with other ONWA teams to ensure feedback from engagements with ONWA members and community members is reflected in policy submissions, briefs, legislative reviews, and other policy-related materials • Leads a team to define, analyze, develop, and evaluate policies to effect positive change for Indigenous women and their families in a manner that honours, respects, and restores Indigenous women’s leadership • Manages projects and works with stakeholders and community members to gather input and share information

• Lead various internal and intergovernmental initiatives that advance ONWA's strategic priorities, with a particular focus on intergovernmental and international affairs • Provide strategic analysis, advice, guidance, and recommendations to ONWA portfolio teams and Senior Leadership regarding the development and implementation of reports, submissions, advocacy initiatives, research activities, and approaches that address issues impacting Indigenous women and their families • Work collaboratively across portfolios to provide strategic leadership, policy expertise, research analysis, advocacy support, planning, monitoring, and evaluation to advance ONWA's mandate and organizational priorities

• Reporting to the Associate Director of Research and Evaluation, the Research Manager is part of the management team and oversees planning, implementation and evaluation of research projects. • Under the guidance of the Associate Director, the Research Manager ensures strategic priorities of short and long-term projects align with ONWA’s strategic picture. • This role applies a human-rights and Indigenous women-centered approach to inform and build research, evaluation and data governance practices that are implemented and align with ONWA’s frameworks. • Working collaboratively with the research advisor, the Research Manager will plan and coordinate research projects, create research questions, plans and evaluation methods that will be used for the projects. • The Research Manager will develop and implement project work plans, develop budgets, monitor expenses and oversee day-to-day project operations to ensure project deliverables are met.
