Procurement Lead – Low Carbon Technology

• Commercial sourcing: Own end-to-end sourcing across your portfolio of low-carbon technologies, balancing total cost, availability, quality, and delivery risk. Ensure contracts are implemented effectively and support innovation while delivering against agreed commercial and operational terms. • Supplier relationship management: Manage day-to-day supplier relationships and lead regular performance reviews (including QBRs), acting as the primary escalation point to resolve commercial or operational issues quickly and constructively. • Portfolio strategy support: Work with Portfolio Managers to ensure portfolio plans are grounded in supply reality. Identify supply risks, constraints, and dependencies early, and help remove bottlenecks that could impact operations. • Risk & continuity support: Monitor supply risks within your portfolio and support contingency planning where needed to protect delivery and customer outcomes. • Data & insight: Use procurement and business data to deeply understand spend, supplier performance, impact on profitability and market trends. Go beyond reporting by highlighting risks, opportunities, and supporting better, faster commercial decisions.

We’re looking for an incredibly talented Finance Operations Manager to join our Finance Operations Team on a 12month fixed term contract (Maternity Cover). You’ll be expected to lead multiple teams independently and take full ownership of it’s results, communicate well across the organisation and be passionate about our goals. You will be leading from the front so we are looking for somebody who has the skills to influence, motivate and inspire their team What you'll do - Manage two teams - Inlife/admin & Arrears consisting of direct reports in Team Leaders and indirectly team of Finance Operations Specialists to deliver an exceptional journey from start to finish; team management, reporting, building relationships with third parties, internal/external compliance and audits - Own the teams objective and KPIs and hold the team accountable to ensure we are achieving them - Work closely with the Head of Finance Operations to continue to drive your remit forward looking for opportunities to enhance efficiencies and automate processes. - Provide cover and deputise for Head of Finance Operations as and when required - Lead on creating reporting of financial and operational performance and creating key feedback loops to the Head of Finance Operations and wider stakeholders - Oversee and support your teams to be hitting and exceeding KPIs, whilst thinking and creating a strategic outlook for both End of Lease and Funding functions - Coach and develop your team on their individual growth trajectories, helping to make Octopus the most fulfilling place to work - Own complex problems, generate & implement solutions, ensure processes are mapped and recorded where appropriate. - Model and embody our culture to ensure your team lives by our company values What you'll need - Proven ability to lead and motivate teams effectively - Background in finance is highly desirable but will consider alternative relevant experience - Exceptional people skills with the capability to communicate effectively; you show up for others and get the best out of them by creating a supportive team environment - You are resilient and adaptable - you’re positive and proactive and energised by working in a fast-paced environment - You have a bias to action and proactively take ownership (particularly when dealing with problems) - A highly effective communicator; you possess excellent verbal and written skills, capable of adapting your style to suit different audiences and situations for optimal impact - Excellent attention to detail as some parts will be repetitive but accuracy is extremely important - Excellent Excel/G-suite working knowledge and experience (SQL data skills desirable) Why else you'll love it here - Wondering what the salary for this role is? • You’ll be in charge of a large team of talented Engineers, Area Managers & Regional Managers, driving the installation of green tech. Your goal is to make sure every install is smooth and professional, leaving our customers thrilled with their experience. You don't need to have experience managing field-based teams, what we really care about is a genuine passion for leading people, a fantastic understanding of our Octopus ways of working and the passion to delight our customers. • Our customers are the core of what we do. You’ll work closely with other teams to ensure that every install reflects our high standards of customer care. If something goes wrong, you’ll jump in, figure it out, and make it right. • You’ll be more than a manager - you’ll be a mentor, helping your team grow and coaching them to be their best. • As we grow, so will the scale of our operations. You’ll design and refine installation processes, making sure we’re working efficiently and keeping standards high continuously. • You’ll oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring everything runs smoothly, safely, and on time. That means tackling scheduling, workforce planning, and making sure health and safety protocols are always followed, allowing us to be the best we can be for our customers
• Own the procurement portfolio for one or more areas of our residential low carbon tech such as Heat Pumps, EV Charge Points, Solar PV or Battery Storage. • Build and lead optimisation pipeline for the procurement portfolio to deliver ongoing value across pricing, quality, availability, new product introduction, tail spend optimisation, contract compliance and proactive risk management. • Work closely with wider areas of the business to drive creative commercial solutions, mitigate risks and bring to market products that our customers love. • Develop scalable solutions that enable our in-house supply chain to become a source of competitive advantage, helping our customers to decarbonise their homes faster and cheaper.
