• Enable the Muon Mission Foundry by driving processes and architectural decisions that allow Muon to scale spacecraft production and mission operations reliably and repeatably, moving beyond legacy quality assurance paradigms. • Partner with Mission Systems Engineers to own and track V&V compliance, verification progress, and test coverage campaigns. • Streamline AI&T workflows by identifying V&V bottlenecks and championing pragmatic Test Like You Fly (TLYF) standards. • Analyze on-orbit telemetry and platform operations to squeeze maximum utility and capacity out of deployed assets • Drive predictable outcomes by ensuring on-orbit performance closely matches pre-flight models, understanding and proving the accuracy of the specifications we sell to customers. • Actively close the loop by feeding on-orbit performance data back into the early-phase design of the next platform iteration. • A tactical focus on increasing autonomy and resilience of our platforms, driving efforts that maximize customer uptime while minimizing the number of operators • Act as a key technical stakeholder supporting product roadmaps for internal tooling (e.g., MuSim, power analysis, data throughput), and utilizing your own software skills to build upon and extend baseline code, ensuring the tools enable the scaling of the Foundry. • Business-Driven "Right-Sizing": Make pragmatic decisions that balance engineering pain points against direct business outcomes, prioritizing work that moves the needle on revenue over simply policing internal processes.

Title: Senior Software Engineer, Ground Software Location: San Jose United States Job Description: About the role Muon is looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Back-end) to join our Ground Software team. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated and versatile software engineer who is excited to build our cloud infrastructure, web services and applications like mission planning & control software, ground station integrations, and tools to gain insight into Earth's complex systems. Our team broadly owns all the software that enables us to communicate with the satellite, as well as customer APIs that enable multi-satellite planning and scheduling. We are fully responsible for the software we build through its full lifecycle; from implementing deployable applications, managing the infrastructure they run on, and supporting them running in production. • Conduct first-principles scientific and technical analysis to formulate hypotheses for remote sensing electro-optical and infrared imagery data applications and novel use cases. • Perform feasibility studies, literature reviews, and trade studies to support development of early-stage mission and data concepts. • Analyze and manipulate pixel-level geospatial and spectral datasets to extract unique insights and validate new mission concepts. • Develop and generate prototype electro-optical and infrared imagery products and sample intelligence products that demonstrate unique capabilities of Muon’s systems. • Support customer discovery and engagement efforts, translating operational pain points and needs into technical requirements and derived data solutions. • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, business development, and engineering teams to identify and develop new markets, products, and technologies. • Support creation of technical proposals and white papers that articulate the differentiation and mission utility of Muon’s offerings.

• Complete on-orbit geometric calibration of new FireSat satellites during the commissioning phase. • Design and implement geometric calibration of multispectral infrared imagery from Muon's infrared missions, including camera geometry modeling and geolocation calibration. • Develop and implement geolocation calibration algorithms to validate and correct on-orbit pointing knowledge. • Continuously improve geospatial processing algorithms including bundle adjustment, orthorectification, and atmospheric corrections. • Research and develop metrics for and improvements to geometric accuracy, image registration, and spatial data quality. • Implement and operate production pipelines for geometric calibration and geospatial data processing. • Write production-ready code. • Work cross-functionally within the team and across Muon to design, build, and maintain operational services from Muon's core remote sensing missions. • Learn new topics as needed (measurement techniques, geospatial data engineering, software engineering, customer domain-specific implications).
