Overall objective is to obtain market share by establishing and achieving target sales volumes and margins to grow the business. Customer management is the core function of this role. Day to day responsibilities include monitoring operating plan performance and achievement, ensuring action plans are in place to respond to opportunities and threats in the sales environment. Responsible for sales planning, pricing implementation, contract development and negotiation, customer mix planning, and forecasting. Responsibilities Primary Duties and Responsibilities: - Development of new business growth - Maintain and expand existing business - Manage margin growth at existing accounts - Achieve plan targets - Coordinate sales efforts with operations, marketing, and R&D - Monitor and report on competitive activity in the industry - Relationship building with key customer personnel who influence the buying decision, can include various functions (operations, senior mgmt., R&D, etc.) - Represent the company in trade associations - Manage key business strategies - Travel as necessary to meet business objectives - Maintains and cultivates in – depth customer contacts to ensure maximum sales penetration Principle Working Relationships: - Work directly with customer service, other account managers, marketing mgmt., R&D, plant mgmt., quality assurance, credit & collections, distribution, and senior sales mgmt. - Develop strategies and tactics, along with gaining customer and market intelligence, either directly or via distributor network. Other Duties and Responsibilities - Performs other duties as required. - Actively participates in Operational Excellence to improvement processes, and utilizes tools such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving. Role Description The primary function of the Vice President (VP) is to drive sales and profitability for the North American (NA) MTI Pet Care group. - Oversee approximately $270M of sales in NA, consisting mostly of finished goods private label cat litter to retail partners, as well as supply of bulk cat litter to national brands in NA. - Work closely with the Pet Care Marketing, R&D, Finance, Customer Service, and Operations groups. - Align with MTI resource units, such as Supply Chain/Logistics and HR. - Lead a team of approximately seven people, including sales managers, sales analytics manager, replenishment, and product managers. - Responsible for carrying out strategic account plans for key accounts and potential new accounts. - Work with the Global BU President and possibly other leadership to deliver on targeted growth projections. Responsibilities - Establish and build a strong relationship within the team. - Engage, motivate, and inspire the team through effective communication, coaching, training, and skill development. - Share and analyze data collected by the commercial team to drive business growth. - Manage the weekly forecast, working closely with the BU finance team/controller. - Achieve strong Voice of Customer (VOC) that leads to increased innovation and sales for strategic accounts. - Understand business development opportunities and capital projects for continued growth. - Demonstrate and lead the business consistent with MTI Values and Transformational Rules for Leaders. - Establish a robust Safety Culture and deliver 100% Compliance with all EHS policies and programs with Zero Injuries & Zero Environmental Releases. - Manage, support, and achieve Operational Excellence and Lean goals through various initiatives. - Work with the technical team to develop and commercialize new technologies to satisfy customer needs. Qualifications - Previous experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) is required. - Strong financial acumen related to income statements, returns on capex investments, cost statements, etc. - Transformational leadership skills demonstrated by the ability to inspire and lead a team. - Bias for action and achievement with personal accountability for team performance. - Capacity to communicate a sense of urgency and inspire those around them. - Skills necessary to coalesce an organization and lead changes supporting strategic business objectives. - Superb communication, presentation, contract negotiation, and influencing skills (written and verbal). - Ten (10) years or more of managing sales and business functions within a team environment. Education - Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or technical/engineering is a requirement. - MBA is desirable but not required. Travel - Travel - up to 35%-50% of time, including regional and some international locations. - Must have a valid driver’s license and passport.
