• Provide technical guidance to customers’ developers on best practices for integrating with our APIs and utilizing our functionality. • Troubleshoot any issues that arise from customers and diagnose any blockers. Escalate issues with customer context to the engineering team. • Develop internal tools to automate customer workflows that are currently unavailable in our product. Provide feedback on recurring patterns and advocate for addressing feature gaps in the product. • Design and assist in implementing a comprehensive knowledge base to assist customers with using our product.

About the Role The Infrastructure team builds foundational systems at scale. We're processing billions of events per day through world scale custom streaming infrastructure, running invoice computations that push the limits of distributed systems, and building platforms that need to be correct, fast, and efficient simultaneously. Work spans the full infrastructure stack—from streaming platforms ingesting usage data, to huge offline batch jobs, to the observability and deployment tooling that keeps everything running reliably. What You'll Do - Build platforms that scale: Design and operate foundational infrastructure—Kubernetes clusters, Kafka streaming platforms, Spark batch processing, observability systems—that handle billions of events and enable Metronome to grow with minimal friction. - Enable product velocity: Create golden paths, abstractions, and tooling that let engineers ship faster and more reliably without becoming infrastructure experts themselves. - Enable reliability as the product: Take accountability for system uptime, performance, and correctness. Build monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems that enable the entire team catch problems before customers notice. - Drive technical direction: Shape Metronome's infrastructure strategy, make platform-level architectural decisions, and mentor engineers across the organization. Qualifications - 5+ years building infrastructure systems: Hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, data pipelines, observability, CI/CD, or other foundational platforms. - Ownership of production systems: Track record of operating mission-critical infrastructure with strong focus on reliability, scalability, and performance. - Force multiplier mindset: You build platforms that enable others. You create abstractions that make complex systems approachable. About the Role The Solution Engineering team at Metronome is a technical group that sits at the intersection of sales, growth, product, and R&D. In simple terms, we own the technical side of the customer lifecycle all the way from the very first discovery call through demos, POCs, technical scoping, and handover to our post-sales groups. We own the technical win for enterprise deals, from first discovery through technical close and handoff. As a member of the Solution Engineering team, you’ll primarily be focused on bringing on new enterprise customers. What You'll Do Using proficient discovery to understand what challenges our prospects face in billing, launching new products, pricing & packaging, quote-to-cash, customer experience, and related areas. Telling a clear value story about how and where Metronome solves those challenges and creates opportunities. Planning, building, and running customized demos of Metronome for buyers with many different personas (engineering, product management, operations, finance, etc). Building relationships with people at our prospect organizations, from day-to-day operators to C-Suite executives. We believe in meeting our customers in-person whenever possible. Designing integrations of Metronome into prospect systems and consultatively influencing the direction of our prospects’ pricing and packaging. Running tight Proofs of Concept with clearly-defined success criteria that get us to the technical win. Ensuring a proper handoff to our post-sales Professional Services, Solutions Architecture, and Growth counterparts. …all of this with prospects at the scale of our most strategic current customers (like Confluent, Databricks, OpenAI, and Anthropic). Expect these engagements to be complex, deep, technical, and most of all interesting . Metronome directly influences how the internet monetizes - AI is an obvious current example - and our group is on the front lines driving this influence with our prospects. Metronome is a startup. In addition to your salary, Metronome offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to market-benched equity, incentive pay, comprehensive health benefits, and other benefits listed below. The actual base salary will vary based on factors including market value, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process, and previous experience. The listed range above should serve as a guideline and may be modified at any time. We also conduct an annual pay audit to ensure pay is fair, indexed to market value, and that pay takes into account continued performance at Metronome. • Design, implement, and ship features across frontend and backend boundaries, ensuring seamless, cohesive experiences for customers. • Apply best practices around authentication, authorization, data handling, and secure UI patterns. Ensure features are robust, secure, and reliable in production. • Support junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance. Model strong engineering judgment and ownership to help the team improve. • Bring product intuition and customer empathy to technical decisions, ensuring features are intuitive, resilient, and aligned with real user needs.
