Role Description MARKS, O’NEILL, O’BRIEN, DOHERTY & KELLY, a premier insurance defense law firm, is seeking to hire an experienced paralegal to support one or more of the Firm’s offices. - Preparation of pleadings including answers to complaints, motions, etc. - Preparing and monitoring the case calendar, adhering to compliance deadlines for multiple clients. - Reviewing medical records and preparing summaries. - Ability to track and meet deadlines. Qualifications - 3+ years of paralegal experience, preferably in a law firm or in insurance claims. - Familiarity with PA, NJ, DE, MD and/or NY laws and procedures. - Prior insurance defense litigation experience preferred. - Applicants with a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program preferred. - Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, document management software and Nuance. - Deadline and detail oriented. Requirements - Pay commensurate with experience. - M-F, day shift. - Fully remote. - 35 hours per week. We are seeking Associates to fill multiple positions for experienced litigators to represent our New Jersey clients. This is a unique opportunity that provides a legal practice where a motivated lawyer is called upon daily to counsel our clients on a variety of legal issues that are as diverse as they are challenging. General Responsibilities - Represent clients in all phases of litigation from initiation to expert discovery in matters involving professional liability or labor and employment. - Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions and case management conferences. - Conduct complex legal research and discovery investigations. - Draft discovery requests and responses, motions, case evaluation summaries, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda. - Review discovery responses, depositions and prepare summaries and litigation update reports. - Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims. - Communicate closely with clients during the course of litigation to provide legal analysis, status reports and advice. Qualifications - Must be barred in NJ. - Familiarity with NJ law and procedure required. - Previous experience required, preferably in civil litigation. - Experience drafting discovery, taking lead on depositions and arguing motions is preferred. - Excellent writing and organizational skills, and comfortable working in a fast paced and demanding environment. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). - Proficient in Lexis software. Requirements - The yearly salary range is between $85,000 and $130,000. - This position is open to all experience levels. - The actual salary offered may be above the identified range and will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, including the location where the position is filled.
