Job Description Summary: Collects, manages, analyzes, and reports on cancer/tumor incidence data. Job Description: Identifies and analyzes the history, diagnosis, treatment, disease status and survival data of cancer patients treated in the organization. Prepares statistical reports on mortality rates, treatment effects, incidence rates of various diagnostic categories and demographic variables. Prepares documentation, abstracts medical records and develops criteria for patient care evaluation, collecting data for protocol studies, and conducting audits for committees and conferences. Assist departments in quality audits and reporting as needed. Complies with all reporting requests and requirements, including requests by the NCDB, quarterly reports to the State Cancer Registry and the annual ACoS report. Serves as a resource to others regarding department policies, procedures and services. Role Description MaineGeneral Health is seeking a Coder II to join our growing team! - Appropriately codes medical information, correctly applying current coding guidelines. - Reviews information for completeness and accuracy of documentation, utilizing all available resources to assure optimal reimbursement while maintaining the integrity of the code assignment. - Responsibilities to include a combination of CPT assignment/charging, diagnosis coding, or E&M leveling for physician practice departments. - Eligible for remote work once you can meet quality and productivity standards. Qualifications - Certification by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is required. - Post high school coursework in business and/or medical field preferred. - 3-5 years of physician practice coding preferred. - Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and pharmacology. - Familiarity with encoders and groupers preferred. - Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications is preferred. - Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask. - Confident and effective oral and written communication skills.
