Role Description The Coding Education Specialist is responsible for the development, delivery, and maintenance of high-quality educational audits, education materials, meetings and presentations focused on coding accuracy and documentation improvement for professional services. - Analyze complex guidelines from regulatory bodies (e.g., CMS, AMA, FCSO, OIG, etc.) - Communicate findings in an understandable manner to Providers and LPG leadership via: - In-person or virtual presentations - On-demand videos - Tip sheets - Coding alerts - Newsletters - Align curriculum with ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and E/M guidelines - Support Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), coders, and LPG practice leadership - Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and optimize revenue integrity - Collaborate with LPG leaders, Providers, and various departments - Partner with the information systems team on Epic documentation enhancements - Collaborate with revenue integrity, coding, and accounts receivables teams to ensure accurate claims reporting - Work with compliance on various subjects based on compliance audits, internal audit findings, and/or regulatory updates/changes - Perform a variety of tasks while remaining organized and adaptable - Demonstrate resilience and flexibility in a fast-paced environment Qualifications - Associate or bachelor's degree preferred - Minimum of 3 years of professional coding experience required - Extensive knowledge and application of: - CPT - HCPCS - ICD-10 - Outpatient coding - E/M guidelines - Documentation standards - Prior experience in coding education, training, or leadership preferred - Prior experience in presenting to various audiences; strong public speaking skills preferred - CPC (Certified Professional Coder) required - CPMA (Certified Professional Medical Auditor) required within 2 years of hire Requirements - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred - Strong working knowledge of Epic preferred - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to deliver technical instruction to medical providers and various forms of leadership - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills - Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of leadership - Sound independent professional judgment and purposeful planning - Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment - Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, disciplined, with a strong work ethic - Problem-solving abilities; ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision - Ability to give and receive constructive feedback - Educational material creation abilities - Strong research and investigation skills - Demonstration and adherence to federal and state guidelines, with ability to translate into digestible education for audience Benefits - Full Time position - Remote work opportunity - Competitive pay rate: $27.57 - $35.84 / hour - Shift: 1/8:00:00 AM to 4:30:00 PM
