Role Description Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a GIS Specialist to join our team! The GIS Specialist will support the creation, maintenance, and analysis of geospatial data for internal and client projects. This role is responsible for producing high-quality maps, managing spatial and tabular data, and supporting data conversion and system configuration efforts. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in GIS, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. This position operates with limited supervision on routine tasks and contributes to continuous process improvement across GIS workflows. - Produce and update maps using standard cartographic principles and GIS tools - Compile, review, and load spatial and tabular data for project use - Digitize geospatial data while following established QA/QC procedures - Upload and manage data within company SDE databases - Leverage multiple software tools, including Pipeline Compliance System programs, to process and analyze data - Create alignment sheets using BSD Lightning (or similar software) - Ensure adherence to company QA/QC standards, data integrity, and schema requirements - Troubleshoot and resolve data conversion issues - Conduct route analysis using Linear Referencing tools - Perform basic calculations and data analysis - Assist in managing and maintaining project databases - Support configuration and publishing of GIS services and internal web applications - Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy - Complete assigned tasks within established timelines - Collaborate with GIS team members to expand technical capabilities and best practices - Provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level technicians Qualifications - Associate or bachelor’s degree (or certificate) in GIS, Geography, or a related field - Minimum of 2 years of relevant GIS experience preferred - Industry experience (e.g., utilities, engineering, infrastructure) a plus - Intermediate understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise systems - Experience with CAD software preferred - Exposure to programming/scripting (e.g., Python, SQL) preferred - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PDF tools (e.g., Adobe, Bluebeam) - Experience with document management systems Requirements - Limited travel for periodic site visits to support projects and better understand field processes and client operations Benefits - Medical, Dental, Vision Insurance - Flexible work options - 401K (6% company match) - Company paid life, AD&D, and short/long term disability - Paid time off (PTO) - Paid holidays (twelve per year) - Tuition reimbursement

CAD Designer (Civil/Structural) We are seeking a CAD Designer with experience supporting engineering and construction projects through 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and construction document development. This role partners with engineers to deliver Issued for Bid (IFB) and Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages across Civil, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical projects. The Senior Project Controls Analyst is responsible for monitoring and analyzing construction project budgets, schedules, and progress. This role involves gathering and interpreting data from multiple sources, generating reports, and providing insights to project managers to ensure the project stays on track and within budget. Key responsibilities: - Data Collection and Analysis: Gather data on project costs, labor hours, material and equipment usage, and project milestones from sources such as timecards, purchase orders, and project management software. - Cost Control: Track project expenditures against the budget, identify cost variances, and perform cost analysis to forecast future costs and potential overruns. - Schedule Management: Monitor project progress against the schedule, identify critical path activities, and analyze schedule delays to propose mitigation strategies. - Performance Metrics and Reporting: Prepare regular project status reports on overall project cost, schedule, and performance metrics, using Power BI for data transformation, visualization, and dashboard design. - Database Management: Maintain project data within a project management system, ensuring accuracy and accessibility. - Forecasting: Develop project forecasts based on current performance, identifying potential issues and adjust project plans as necessary. - Change Order Management: Track and analyze change orders to assess their impact on project budget and schedule. - Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks related to cost, schedule, and quality, and propose mitigation strategies.
