Role Description The Data Visualisation Officer reports to the Senior Data Visualisation Officer and is accountable for the day-to-day management of existing reporting, development and enhancement of reporting, visualising data for assigned ad-hoc requests and contributions to complex data analysis undertaken by the section. You will also be required to liaise with internal and external stakeholders to pre-empt and interpret user requirements, delivering reporting solutions that align with end user requirements. - Use Power BI to design, develop and maintain corporate and operational dashboards that support decision‑making, and meet requirements for accessibility, organisational governance, quality and security. - Engage with internal stakeholders and lead business requirements gathering activities for Power BI dashboards. - Use SQL and DAX to interrogate databases and validate Power BI data products as part of the report quality assurance process. - Undertake the Power BI administration role, including creating and administering workspaces, refresh scheduling, report certification, access controls, maintaining visibility across the Power BI tenancy, quality assurance and enforcing internal Power BI Development and Access Standards. - Contribute to the development of requirements for the Power BI Access Solution, including documenting business rules for Active Directory groups to support attribute‑based and role‑based access control (ABAC and RBAC). - Research, assess and evaluate the relevance and appropriate use of emerging visualisation tools. - Support the Reporting and Visualisation Chapter via knowledge exchange and development of materials to build workforce capability in effective data visualisation and provide guidance to emerging Power BI report developers. - Contribute to ad-hoc data requests from internal and external customers across varied subject matters including trends analysis and applicant filing behaviours. - Contribute to budget cycle processes via collaboration with Finance and IP Rights operational teams. Qualifications - End-to-end task management to develop complex Power BI reporting products for executive, operational and external audiences. - Use of SQL, DAX and M code to transform, model and analyse data. - Understand curated datasets and their relationships, application of UX, UI and design thinking to data visualisation products, and using disciplined report design to avoid unnecessary complexity. - Engage with stakeholders to gather, document and translate business requirements into clear, fit for purpose data visualisation products. - Use initiative to identify problems, navigate ambiguity, manage own time under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. - Excellent communication and emotional intelligence skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams to collaborate on tasks and achieve results. - Understand contemporary data practices and visualisation tools, with the ability to research, assess and evaluate the relevance and appropriate use of emerging tools. - Knowledge of Australia's intellectual property system and its policy environment or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge. Role Description The Senior Examiner role provides an opportunity to operate as a trusted technical leader within the PBR examination function. The role exercises a high degree of professional judgement and autonomy, resolving the majority of complex or sensitive matters within delegation and providing authoritative guidance to examiners and managers. The role includes direct line management of a small number of examiners, with responsibility for: - Day-to-day supervision - Workflow management - Performance support - Staff development A key responsibility of the role is the training, coaching and development of inexperienced and trainee staff, including examiners undertaking structured training programs. Senior Examiners play a central role in building capability within the section by providing hands-on technical training, reviewing work, guiding decision making and supporting staff to apply legislation and practice confidently to live cases. The successful candidate in this role as Senior Examiner will: - Exercise independent decision making across the examination lifecycle, including complex matters - Resolve most technical and procedural issues independently - Train, supervise and coach trainee and inexperienced examiners, including through structured on-the-job training, review of work, and practical feedback - Support trainees to progress toward acceptance and grant delegation by helping them build technical competence, sound judgement and confidence in decision making - Supervise acceptance and grant delegate staff, including through direct supervision, feedback, and performance support - Actively manage risk within the examination function by identifying issues early and supporting pragmatic, defensible outcomes - Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of examination practice, guidance and training approaches - Work closely with Assistant Directors, the Chief of PBR, and colleagues across IP Australia on initiatives affecting systems, quality and capability The role suits experienced practitioners who are comfortable exercising judgement, teaching others, and taking shared responsibility for building a capable and resilient examination workforce. Role Description The Assistant Hearing Officer supports the performance of the functions of the Section, including exercising relevant delegations under the legislation such as in relation to Extension of Time requests. The Assistant Hearing Officer performs an integral role in the trade marks and designs and oppositions and hearings processes. - Make decisions on the adequacy of Statements of Grounds and Particulars of oppositions, and on the acceptability of various Amendment and Extension of Time requests, in accordance with complex legislation and case law. - Handle complex customer queries by phone and in writing on the opposition and removal processes. - Provide guidance and information to external and internal stakeholders on Opposition, Hearings and court-related matters. - Schedule and manage hearing matters to ensure timely and effective progression of cases. - Determine and manage costs matters in accordance with legislative and procedural requirements. - Prepare non-routine written material for the Section, for example, responding to customer complaints, and updating procedural manuals. - Coordinate and manage court matters, including liaison with relevant parties and follow‑up actions. - Prepare reports and provide updates on court matters. - Assess and process suspension requests in line with relevant legislation, policy, and procedures. - Finalise removal/cessation matters, ensuring decisions are accurate and timely. - Maintain accurate Section records using a range of relevant IT systems and applications. - Train, coach and mentor staff to support capability development and consistent decision making. Role Description As Governance Officer you will be supporting IP Australia’s Executive to make governance decisions, by making sure they have the right information at the right time. You will be part of a small team undertaking work with a high level of complexity and/or sensitivity.
