Donor Engagement Manager

Role Description The Donor Engagement Manager is responsible for communicating IFAW’s vision, strategy, and impact to inspire significant philanthropic commitments for IFAW's work from high-net-worth individuals and family foundations. This role serves an essential function: developing and building IFAW’s reputation to position IFAW as a top charity worthy of significant donations. The Donor Engagement Manager plays a key role in improving the HNW donor journey and achieving our fundraising goals for enhanced programmatic impact globally in conservation, rescue, and policy. Role and Responsibilities - Lead a robust donor communications, engagement, and stewardship program for high-net-worth (HNW) individuals. - Spearhead the development of strategy and plans, supervising a team of contractors and freelancers for project implementation. - Contribute to the attainment of ambitious growth goals by inspiring donors’ philanthropic support. - Create dynamic donor engagement plan. - Spearhead donor engagement plans, including cultivation, stewardship experiences, and recognition. - Drive a robust calendar of communications and activities to optimize donor engagement. - Advise and support frontline fundraisers with strategy and content for donor communications and proposals. - Collaborate with communications and program teams to create compelling donor impact reports and other tools. - Gather and share impact stories, data, and testimonials to demonstrate the value of donor contributions. - Plan and oversee execution of exclusive engagement opportunities for target audience. - Develop and implement personalized stewardship plans for select principal and major donors. - Ensure all donor touchpoints reflect the organization’s mission and values. - Lead, coach, and manage a team of freelancers responsible for communications and stewardship activities. - Maintain strong relationships with program leaders across the global organization. - Analyze donor engagement metrics, track trends, and report on the effectiveness of strategies. - Ensure routine fundraising communications and templates for major gifts are up-to-date and accurate. - Manage creation and updates of bespoke proposals. - Improve integration of mail/email outreach. - Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to optimize use of resources. - Enhance web presence to incorporate donor testimonials and demonstrate impact. - Update and improve naming opportunities for major and principal gifts. - Collaborate with DVP Development to recommend effective points of contact with donors. - Identify opportunities to present our work more effectively and enhance the donor experience. - Launch or relaunch giving societies with an emphasis on philanthropy and engagement. - Advise on ways to streamline and improve donor communications and engagement. - Guide the larger Development team in positioning our programs to inspire greater philanthropic support. Qualifications - Minimum 4-5 years of related experience in nonprofit stewardship, donor communications, fundraising, or related transferable experience. - Experience leading a team in a development setting, including direct supervision of colleagues. - Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. - Exceptional written communication, relationship-building, project management, and collaboration skills. - Intellectual curiosity. - Must be professional, highly organized, creative, efficient, and collaborative. - Cultural competence: ability to work seamlessly with colleagues across four continents. - Able to work successfully both individually and as part of a team. - Must be flexible and willing to take on new responsibilities within a growing program. - Ability to travel regionally/internationally for trainings and team meetings. - A degree from a four-year college or university preferred. - Knowledge of Microsoft products, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook required. - Must be fully fluent English speaking/writing. Program Assistant - Marine Community Engagement

Role Description This is a Fixed Term Contract position based remotely in Mkokoni, Lamu County through 30 June 2029. The Program Assistant – Marine Community Engagement will assist the program team in the advancement of the IFAW’s institutional and regional goals for marine conservation. This position is based in Mkokoni, Lamu County and will report to the Program Manager – Marine Conservation, EA. The incumbent holder of this position is expected to support the implementation of community-focused marine conservation initiatives along the Kenyan coastline. The role will strengthen coastal community participation in sustainable fisheries, marine species protection, and local stewardship of marine and coastal ecosystems. The position involves extensive coordination with community groups, Beach Management Units (BMUs), fisherfolk associations, women and youth groups, local government agencies, and conservation partners. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Studies, Marine Studies, Natural Resource Management or related field preferred. - Minimum 1 year experience working with communities in a development or conservation context. - Experience working in coastal regions or with marine resource users is an added advantage. - Experience supporting trainings, community meetings, or social mobilization desirable. - Strong interpersonal and community facilitation skills. - Basic understanding of marine conservation, coastal ecosystems, or fisheries co-management. - Solid organizational and administrative skills. - Proficiency in MS Office and data entry tools. - Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of coastal languages is a plus. - Willingness to travel to IFAW field and office locations. Requirements - Support mobilization and engagement of coastal communities in marine conservation initiatives. - Assist in organizing and facilitating community dialogues, sensitization meetings, and awareness campaigns on sustainable marine resource use. - Promote community-led stewardship through BMUs, women’s groups, youth groups, and local champions. - Support training sessions on sustainable fishing practices, marine wildlife protection, and alternative livelihoods. - Participate in field activities such as monitoring community projects, supporting local conservation groups, and conducting interviews or focus groups. - Work closely with community rangers, turtle conservation groups, and citizen science teams where applicable. - Assist in monitoring community-led initiatives such as beach clean-ups, habitat restoration, or bycatch mitigation activities. - Collect and enter field and community engagement data using digital tools or field forms. - Maintain accurate databases and support basic analysis for reporting. - Contribute to preparation of monthly, quarterly, and donor reports. - Document success stories, testimonials, challenges, and lessons learned from the field. - Act as liaison to IFAW partners including BMUs, county fisheries officers, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), local NGOs, and relevant community-based organizations. - Assist in organizing stakeholder meetings, workshops, and multi-partner engagements. - Capture meeting minutes, agreements, and follow-up actions. - Assist with planning, organizing, and documenting field missions, trainings, and workshops. - Support procurement of materials, activity supplies, community equipment, and distribution tracking. - Maintain organized filing systems (both digital and physical) for project documents. - Provide high-quality photos, field updates, and stories for newsletters, reports, and social media. - Ensure branding and visibility requirements are followed in community activities. - Assist in producing basic IEC materials (posters, flyers, community briefs). - Assist with facilitating visits of other IFAW staff and donors to the area. - Ensure strong communication between local communities and IFAW personnel. - Embody the values, mission and vision of IFAW at all times. - Execute other duties as assigned.
