Role Description The economist is expected to lead the development of cost benefit analysis in the Fortifying Infrastructure for Responsible Extinguishments project within beneficiary states in Africa. - Technical Inputs: - Develop a standardized Cost–Benefit Analysis (CBA) template for transitioning to fluorine-free foam at aerodromes in Africa, including: - Current Status Assessment of Cost Benefit Analysis: - Identify current stocks, storage conditions, and disposal needs. - Document existing firefighting systems, equipment compatibility, and operational procedures. - Estimate baseline environmental and health risks associated with PFAS use. - Market Analysis: - Estimate operational expenditures (OPEX): - Training - Maintenance - Additional testing - Estimate PFAS disposal and remediation costs. - Environmental Economic Analysis: - Quantify avoided PFAS contamination and long-term environmental benefits. - Conduct cost-benefit comparison of “F3 transition” vs. “business as usual.” - Final Reporting: - Prepare a comprehensive CBA report. - Provide an executive summary tailored for decision-makers. - Submit all models, datasets, and tools in transparent, editable formats. - Develop CBA for airports in each participating country (Kenya, Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria, and Ethiopia) on transitioning to fluorine-free foam (F3). - Consult with airport staff and relevant stakeholders including foam suppliers to ensure accuracy of inputs and assumptions. - Utilize transparent and clear models relevant and useful to airport staff in the target countries. - Consult with any relevant stakeholders to ensure inclusions are relevant to and interpretable by policymakers. - Develop a practical guide and tool to adopt the fluorine-free alternatives by the airports based on the CBA report. - Performs other related duties, as required by Project Document. Qualifications - Advanced University Degree in Economics or Environmental Economics. - Experience conducting cost benefit analyses (>10 years). - Experience working in LMIC context. - Familiarity with airport firefighting operations. - Experience working in GEF projects. Requirements - Essential: English proficiency. - Desirable: Proficiency in other UN languages preferred. Benefits - Special Service Agreement (SSA) monthly fee of 11,000 USD. Role Description The Global Project Manager will work with the Business Development Unit (BDU) to drive revenue generation for ICAO through business development and sales of products and services. Key responsibilities include: - Assist in the overall planning and execution of revenue-generating events for all regions, focusing on NACC and SAM Regions. - Ensure regional events adhere to the Administrative Instructions for Revenue Generating Events. - Attain pre-determined sales targets each year with a focus on reaching new-to-ICAO clients. - Provide operational and logistical support on events where required. - Contribute to lessons learned upon project completion or by the end of the budgetary cycle. - Work with ICAO Regional Offices to develop sales on specific projects to expand markets internationally. - Promote and solicit at industry trade shows to increase awareness of ICAO products and services. - Identify sales targets for exhibitors or sponsors based on event subject matter. - Utilize CRM tools to capture customer information and manage sales reports. - Perform other sales and operational related duties as assigned. Qualifications - A first-level university degree in business or in a related field. - Sales-based tools such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM and project management training (desirable). - A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in an international sales-specific and partnership role. - Proven revenue growth and sales cycle experience. - Experience in event operations and event management. - Fluent reading, writing, and speaking abilities in English and Spanish. - A working knowledge of any other language of the Organization (desirable). Requirements - Strong diplomatic sensitivity and international business development experience. - Ability to meet and exceed targets. - High level of interpersonal skills to adapt well to customers. - Experience in tradeshow and networking environments (desirable). - Aviation sales knowledge and ability to present in a group setting (desirable). - Strong organization and electronic records keeping skills (desirable). Benefits - Compensation at a monthly rate (Band B) ranging from CAD 5,097 to CAD 8,122. - Work remotely with occasional weekend and evening work required for conferences and events worldwide. - Employment income from UN agencies is tax exempt in Canada.
