Role Description The Senior Evidence and Learning Officer will support Fortify Health’s efforts to generate, synthesise, and communicate evidence on fortification. This role will focus on building strong documentation of our work, developing case studies, and translating research findings into actionable insights for government and external stakeholders. Please note that the location for this role is remote, based in India, with a preference for Delhi or Madhya Pradesh. Key Responsibilities - Evidence Generation and Research: - Conduct background research and literature reviews on food fortification and micronutrient deficiencies. - Synthesize internal data and external evidence to inform program strategy. - Lead end-to-end study execution, including data collection, obtaining ethical and government approvals, and ensuring compliance with research protocols and high data quality. - Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to generate insights, and develop clear, high-quality reports and outputs for decision-making and dissemination. - Support development of technical notes, briefs, and evidence summaries. - Case Studies and Documentation: - Develop high-quality case studies capturing implementation learnings across geographies. - Collect data and document program insights, challenges, and best practices. - Tailor outputs for different audiences, including policymakers, donors, and technical stakeholders. - Government and Stakeholder Engagement: - Prepare concise documents, presentations, and briefing notes for government meetings. - Support responses to stakeholder queries with evidence-backed inputs. - Translate technical findings into clear, decision-friendly formats. - Learning and Dissemination: - Support dissemination of research findings through reports, presentations, and external platforms. - Curate and adapt content for different audiences. - Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives, workshops, and events. - Knowledge Management: - Maintain organised repositories of research and documentation. - Ensure consistency and quality across outputs. - Identify opportunities to strengthen organisational learning. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise - Expertise: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Economics, Development Studies, or related field. - 2–5 years of experience in research, policy, or program documentation. - Strong understanding of research methods, literature reviews, and evidence synthesis. - Familiarity with public health/nutrition (fortification knowledge preferred). - Execution: - Ability to independently manage research, documentation, and writing deliverables end-to-end. - Experience developing high-quality written outputs (e.g., briefs, case studies, reports). - Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain quality and consistency across outputs. - Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within timelines. - Collaboration: - Experience working with cross-functional teams (program, research, policy). - Ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders. - Comfort supporting government and partner-facing workstreams. - Communication: - Excellent written communication skills with ability to simplify complex technical concepts. - Ability to tailor content for diverse audiences (government, donors, technical stakeholders). - Strong presentation and documentation skills. - Problem-solving: - Analytical thinking with ability to synthesize data and draw actionable insights. - Structured approach to organizing information and developing outputs. - Growth Mindset: - Willingness to learn and build expertise in food fortification and public health nutrition. - Openness to feedback and iterative improvement in writing and analysis. - Proactive, self-driven, and adaptable in a dynamic work environment. - Desirable attributes: - Experience working with remote team members. - Experience working independently. - Experience working in an NGO or in the development sector. - Enthusiasm about our opportunity to improve people’s lives. Role Description The Senior Quality Manager will play a pivotal role in strengthening Fortify Health’s quality systems for wheat flour fortification across India’s open market. This is a high-ownership role that sits at the intersection of quality assurance, systems design, and people leadership and is central to Fortify Health’s ability to scale impact to more mills and more beneficiaries. The Senior Manager will oversee quality compliance, vendor management, data systems, and process improvement, while working with Quality Systems Managers to foster a culture of learning, shared accountability, and continuous improvements. They will work closely with field teams and cross-functional stakeholders to move quality systems from reactive problem-solving to proactive, data-driven execution — a shift that is core to how Fortify Health operates at scale. The Senior Quality Manager will report to Fortify Health’s Associate Director of Quality. Key Responsibilities - People Management & Capability Building: - Manage team members, as needed. - Provide formal and periodic feedback, and escalate performance issues to leadership when required. - Help prioritise work and flag performance or people-related concerns. - Conduct interviews with prospective candidates/support in the hiring process. - Develop and lead training and capacity-building efforts within the implementation team. - Quality Assurance & Compliance: - Provide oversight of mill-level quality performance through Quality Systems Managers. - Conduct regular audits and inspections of the production processes to ensure adherence to established quality standards. - Own premix approvals/rejections and ensure timely decisions. - Oversee audits for mills, lab, and premix vendors, and drive corrective actions where needed. - Vendor Management: - Manage relationships with lab and premix vendors, including onboarding, performance tracking, and audits. - Support the selection of new vendors and ensure smooth coordination with internal teams. - Data & Reporting: - Analyse quality data to identify trends, gaps, and improvement areas. - Generate comprehensive data reports for internal as well as external stakeholders. - Oversee the data collection and reporting process for the Quality Team. - Support the Data team on Quality-specific dashboards, reports, and ad-hoc data needs. - Process Improvement: - Improve SOPs and workflows to strengthen efficiency and quality systems. - Drive data-backed solutions to close operational gaps. - Support audits, research, and system improvement initiatives. - Strategic Planning, Execution & Coordination: - Oversee BAU execution and ensure timely, quality delivery of outputs. - Coordinate across teams to resolve interdepartmental manager-level issues. - Support the Quality leadership team on designing KRs, team strategy, training/workshops. - Project Ownership & Problem Solving: - Own BAU KRs, and oversee project planning, tracking, and execution with clear timelines and accountability. - Ensure high-quality outputs and proper documentation. - Proactively identify issues and drive practical, data-driven solutions. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise - Expertise: Bachelor's or higher degree in public health, nutrition, food technology, management, social sciences, or a related field; candidates with equivalent professional experience in quality systems, programme management, or health/development sectors will also be considered. - Management: Experience managing multiple projects and teams to ensure critical work is done on time, while ensuring team morale. - Execution: Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, drive delivery through others, and hold teams accountable to timelines and quality standards. - Collaboration: Excellent people management skills; ability to lead a dispersed team, foster a positive and high-performance work culture, and build capability in direct and indirect reports. - Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; able to present quality findings, escalate issues, and engage confidently with internal teams, field staff, and external stakeholders. - Fluency in English and Hindi. - Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to make data-driven decisions, identify root causes of quality failures, and drive systemic corrective and preventive action. - Growth Mindset: Eager to learn from setbacks and ambiguity, and apply those insights to improve systems and team performance; comfortable operating in a dynamic, mission-driven organisation.
