Role Description The Costing Engineer at FFE is responsible for building, maintaining, and validating the historical and prospective cost model used to support pricing, profitability analysis, customer negotiations, and strategic decision-making. This role collaborates with operations, finance, pricing, and IT, ensuring the cost data accurately reflects real-world operating conditions among terminals, linehaul, pickup & delivery (P&D), density, weight breaks, service levels, and accessorial activity. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with a working knowledge of LTL carrier pricing structures, accessorials, and market dynamics. - Serve as the system owner for FFE’s Costing Information System, ensuring accuracy and ongoing maintenance. - Reconcile CIS cost outputs with actual financial results. - Construct pricing scenarios to project the impact of pricing changes on account performance. - Support development of freight cost assumptions for pricing models and financial forecasts. - Provide insights and recommendations to leadership on cost optimization opportunities. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance freight costing accuracy and efficiency. - Partner with IT and analytics teams on CIS enhancements and data quality initiatives. Qualifications - Superior analytical, organizational, decision-making, and critical thinking skills are essential. - Capable of identifying the story in data and effectively communicating complex information to management. - Detail-focused with the capability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. - Enthusiastic about tackling new projects and expanding skill sets. Requirements - Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations Research, or a STEM field of study. - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Expert user in Microsoft Excel. - 2-5 years of experience in LTL transportation costing, pricing, or freight analysis (preferred). - Strong technical skills with basic knowledge of SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or other programming languages (preferred). - Full-time (remote or based in Lancaster, TX). Must reside in the contiguous United States. This role serves as the execution engine behind pricing strategy, managing complex, data-driven projects related to contract pricing, tariff changes, accessorial, discounts and pricing governance. The position partners closely with Pricing, Sales, Operations, Finance and IT to ensure pricing initiatives are executed effectively and deliver measurable financial and operational impact. The ideal candidate combines strong project management and analytical skills with a working knowledge of LTL carrier pricing structures, accessorials, and market dynamics.
