Role Description EPM is growing, and we are seeking a Senior Mortgage Accountant to join our team. You’ll be responsible for overseeing complex accounting functions with a strong focus on funding, cash management, secondary market activities, and reconciliations across simple to highly complex accounts. This role owns funding and cash-related processes, ensures timely and accurate settlements, and manages reporting and reconciliations related to investor activity, including Ginnie Mae. The ideal candidate serves as a subject matter expert within the accounting team, proactively resolving open items, strengthening controls, and supporting month-end close and reporting. - Own daily funding and cash activity, ensuring all loans, settlements, and cash movements are accurately recorded and reconciled. - Prepare and review funding reports, purchase advices, and related reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy. - Manage settlements and reporting with Ginnie Mae and other secondary market investors, including timely resolution of discrepancies. - Perform detailed reconciliations across a broad range of accounts, from routine accounts to highly complex balance sheet and clearing accounts. - Oversee cash reconciliations and ensure all open funding, settlement, and investor items are investigated and resolved promptly. - Support secondary market accounting activities, including tracking loan sales, investor remittances, and purchase price differences. - Review general ledger activity for accuracy, identify trends or issues, and recommend corrective actions as needed. - Play a key role in the monthly and annual close process, including preparation and review of journal entries and reconciliations. - Prepare and analyze financial reports and schedules, providing insights to leadership and cross-functional partners. - Collaborate cross-functionally with Secondary Marketing, Finance, and Operations to resolve issues and improve end-to-end processes. - Provide audit support and prepare documentation for internal and external audits. - Additional duties and responsibilities assigned due to business needs.
