Title: Senior Associate County Attorney Location: Marietta United States Job Description: This attorney position (associate or senior associate) will be assigned to the Litigation Group for the County Attorney’s Office. Responsibilities are focused primarily on defending the County, its elected officials, and its employees in civil cases before federal, state, and appellate courts and administrative tribunals. Litigation practice areas include, but are not limited to, civil rights, employment, wrongful death/personal injury, zoning, and contract disputes. Responsibilities also include providing legal advice to county departments and elected officials regarding various aspects of county governance and operations. The salary range for this position ranges from approximately $115,000 to $145,000, with compensation being commensurate with experience. Essential Functions Serves as legal counsel representing the legal interests of the County for assigned departments; provides legal advice to represented clients and other department heads, elected officials and managers as requested or assigned under the direction of the County Attorney; attends meetings, assesses nature of the legal issue presented; researches internal regulations, policies and procedures or relevant state and federal law; advises client of legal solution and execution of appropriate steps and implementation; writes legal opinions and memoranda; develops strategies and solutions to ensure compliance; provides information regarding updated laws and regulations as needed. Handles large and complex litigation; prepares and responds to interrogatories, requests for production of documents, requests for admissions and other discovery requests; prepares appropriate motions and other necessary pleadings; takes and defends depositions; meets with clients and other witnesses; conducts legal research; determines case strategy; attends mediations, trials, and hearings; argues client’s position; makes and responds to legal arguments; presents and examines witnesses; introduces and/or opposes to evidence; issues subpoenas; prepares and responds to appellate motions; communications with clients, opposing counsel, and adverse parties; maintains related documentation and files. Develops and reviews legislation; reviews, drafts, and interprets laws, ordinances, regulations, and resolutions; reviews and interprets pending and new legislation; analyzes impact on County policies and services; provides advice and direction to County officials and departments regarding the same. Provides advice regarding the Georgia Open Records Act and the Georgia Open Meetings Act. Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures, including trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; participates in training and continuing education activities; attends and conducts meetings, workshops and seminars as appropriate. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Juris Doctorate Degree required; plus a minimum of three years of litigation experience. Preferred Qualifications - Proficiency in defending civil litigation matters. - Experience and knowledge in federal litigation involving 42 U.S.C. § 1983 and constitutional claims. - Experience and knowledge in governmental immunities, including Eleventh Amendment, qualified, sovereign, and official immunities. - Experience and knowledge in defending personal injury and wrongful death actions arising from motor vehicle accidents. Licenses and Certifications Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain certification and licensure from the Georgia Bar Association. Physical Abilities Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station. Sensory Requirements Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Title: Program Leader Job Description: Salary $18.31 Hourly Location Senior Services Department Marietta, GA Job Type Part-Time Job Number 04806 Department Senior Services Grade Code 102P Position Information The Part-Time Program Leader will help with programming for the Senior Wellness Center and the Senior Nutrition Program. This position works 29 hours per week Monday -Friday; hours range between 8am-5pm. Schedule will be confirmed upon job offer. Essential Functions Assists in the planning and designing of programming, services, activities and/or events for assigned department: researches and develops, and assists in researching and developing, content for programming; assists in community needs assessments; gathers and reserves supplies/equipment as needed; creates handouts and informational supplements; and schedules programming. Assists the implementation of, and implements, programming, services, activities and/or events for assigned department: conducts assigned classes for participants of different fitness/cognitive levels: recruits participants for new and existing classes; researches activities desired and requested by participants; gathers supplies and equipment; and provides skill demonstrations as needed. Provides customer service to clients and the public: receives and responds to questions and requests for information; provides assistance and information related to center programs, services, materials, or other issues in assigned area; researches problems and initiates problem resolution; and enrolls clients for programs, services and materials. Plans, leads, and supervises participants at various events: coordinates monthly recreational/social activities; arranges and organizes physical space and/or transportation; contacts various venues to schedule activities; and recruits participants. Assists in the planning and implementation of public relations and communication for assigned department: creates and distributes flyers, schedules, calendars, brochures, emails and other promotional materials; maintains and updates email/mailing distribution lists; and attends public events/meetings. Provides clerical support, as needed: completes, prepares and submits reports and forms on activities; updates weekly and monthly calendar; transcribes meeting minutes; utilizes petty cash fund; and maintains inventory of publications and other information for distribution. Required to participate in various meetings and activities; and provides information and input regarding program activities, services, and needs. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by two years of experience providing programs. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with customer service. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills. - Experience with the older adult community, or within a community/recreation center environment. - Experience assisting with event planning (such as group activities, group trips and maintaining the calendar of center activities) - Knowledge of ServSafe food safety. Licenses and Certifications Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
