Role Description The Chief Financial Officer, reporting to the President and CEO, ensures overall accountability and stewardship for the financial resources of the organization, including: - Accounting - Financial planning and analysis - Treasury - Risk management/insurance - IT - Real estate This role is expected to serve as a strategic partner to the CEO engaging in: - Strategy development - Technology integration - Budget and resources planning - Forecasting future scenarios - Overseeing operational activities Serving on CMMB’s Executive Team, this role will be a key team member on internal direction setting and discussions of operational efficiencies and effectiveness. This position has direct reports in New York as well as remote locations. Key Responsibilities Strategic Services - Ensure strategic financial needs are assessed, effectively prioritized, and fully integrated into the organization’s decision-making and implementation processes. - Assure the financial integrity and assess the sustainability of the organization. - Provide thought leadership and organizational stewardship in the areas of business process transformation, financial planning & administration, risk management, information technology and user experience, and grants administration. - Set best practices and standards, and approaches to problem resolution through the issuance of relevant policy guidelines, design and adoption of business processes, technical support, and user-friendly tools & reporting templates. - Oversee relationship with investment services firm managing their participation and follow-through on recommendations from the Finance committee. - Coordinate and support business process reengineering initiatives departmentally and collaboratively across the organization. - Lead the continuous improvement, alignment and integration of financial and related information systems. - Strengthen and oversee organizational fiscal and internal control accountability. - Identify, assess and mitigate financial risks. - Prepare medium and short-term high-level resources planning frameworks and allocation analyses. - Contribute to organizational decision-making as a member of the CMMB Executive Team. - Serve as the primary or shared responsibility focal point to the CMMB Board of Directors for the Finance Committee and Audit Committee. Operational Services - Ensure internal and external clients are provided demand-driven, operational support services that are strategic, responsive, pragmatic and timely. - Lead and guide all functional areas falling within the Finance Department: - Accounting - Treasury - Financial Planning and Analysis - Information Technology - Real Estate Management - Financial Risk Management - Grants Administration - Issue annual, audited financial statements and file timely, annual tax returns. - Oversee and ensure organizational liquidity. - Oversee the preparation and implementation of the annual budget. - Ensure a strategically leveraged, organization-wide Information Technology platform. - Oversee management of US office premises and ensure adequacy of insurance coverages. - Ensure compliance with USG and other donor financial, administrative, and reporting regulations and deadlines. - Clear all financial and administrative information in donor agreements and grant proposals. - Serve as the organizational focal point with financial services providers, auditors, insurance providers, IT contractors, building management and other vendors. - Design and oversee internal workshops & financial training; represent CMMB at external meetings. - Manage and mentor global Finance, Compliance, and IT staff. - Lead and manage the employees in the department, ensuring clear goals and accountabilities are established and achieved. Qualifications - Highly strategic thinker capable of quickly assessing and resolving complex organizational challenges. - Extremely competent in finance and accounting management, particularly in US government projects and procurement procedures. - Strong knowledge of financial accounting and planning, budgeting, risk management, and financial control systems. - Proven experience in producing financial statements and reporting for a globally diverse organization. - Strong knowledge of international financial reporting and accounting standards. - Results-oriented user’s knowledge of information systems for finance and accounting, particularly Netsuite. - Proven hands-on experience in planning and implementing complex projects. - Client-focused and results-driven individual with strong experience in change management. - Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills; strong executive presence. - Strategic communicator with strong analytical, documentation and presentation skills. - Capable of effectively leading, managing and mentoring staff. - Exemplifies the highest standards of integrity, ethical behavior and respect for diversity. - Knowledgeable of and fully committed to the mission and values of CMMB. Requirements - 15+ years of progressive financial and administrative leadership and responsibility, preferably in the international, nonprofit sector. - Hands-on knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Standards and Statements on Auditing Standards. - Solid experience in short-term and medium-term financial planning, budgeting and treasury operations. - Solid understanding of nonprofit accounting, budgeting and project management software reporting packages and systems; proficiency in Netsuite, Microsoft Office. - Experience in US Government grants and related NICRA accounting, budgeting, compliance and reporting requirements preferred. - Must be comfortable working for a faith-based organization. Education and/or Certification - Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or finance required. - Master's degree or commensurate experience required. - CPA or related professional accreditation preferred. - Working knowledge of Spanish and/or French a plus. Overview Through its Access to Medicines Program, CMMB partners with pharmaceutical companies, medical supply manufacturers, NGOs, and health facilities to deliver high-quality medicines and medical supplies to underserved health facilities across more than 40 countries. These health commodities, both donated product (i.e.. Gift-in-Kind products provided by manufacturers) and purchased product, address critical medicine shortages and improve access to safe, effective treatment for populations in low-resource settings. The Program Director for the Global NCD Impact Initiative (NCDI) provides strategic and operational oversight for CMMB’s expanding rollout with partners across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. The role leads the onboarding, implementation, monitoring, and scale-up of the global program which focuses on improving access to essential medicines and strengthening health systems for care and management of chronic conditions (e.g. hypertension, diabetes, respiratory illness, sickle cell, etc.). Working closely with implementing partners, local stakeholders (including Ministries of Health, health associations and organizations), donors, researchers and internal teams, the Program Manager provides support and translates learnings to ensure program quality, compliance and impact across countries. The role combines technical leadership, partnership management, program oversight, and cross-country coordination to bring the program to scale globally. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Program Management & Implementation - Provide overall leadership and coordination of NCDI partners ensuring high-quality, timely program implementation at country level. - Drive NCDI partner onboarding and training, project management, stakeholder management, and follow-up on action items for local program implementation and research projects. Facilitate cross-country coherence in strategy, technical standards, and operational excellence. - Ensure lessons learned from pilot partners and stakeholders, project level data, etc. are well integrated and incorporated for continuous improvement of global program implementation and results. - Support program expansion strategy aligned with national health priorities and NCD strategies. - Coordinate and support product sourcing & procurement, supply chain management, and reporting for donated and procured medical commodities. - Consult, provide thought partnership, and support to NCDI partners with consideration given to regional and country contexts. - Ensure effective use of digital reporting tools and data systems to track product flows and facility-level utilization. Stakeholder Engagement & Representation - Represent CMMB in national, regional, and international forums with donors, government agencies, and technical partners. - Build and maintain strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical industry actors, supply-chain experts, and NCD service providers.
