Role Description The Growth Manager participates in market-entry strategies and proposal development efforts across the Growth Division. The manager supports resourcing for the Growth Division’s business development, manages Strategy and Management team members, serves in line roles on proposals, liaises with technical practices and experts to coordinate technical inputs and tender reviews, collaborates with external clients, shares internal and external knowledge with others, oversees and supports administrative tasks, and ensures adherence with company policies and applicable laws and regulations. The manager may serve as acting strategy and management director as needed. Responsibilities - Market Strategy Development and Portfolio Management: - Serves as new market team liaison, providing general support for market entry activities. - Shares information and ensures teams have necessary resources to respond to tenders, develop expressions of interest, or create pitches. - Provides quality control and assurance aligned with divisional best practices and guidelines. - Initiates and develops effective working relationships with clients, partners, counterparts, stakeholders, technical specialists, and donor agencies. - Supports the identification and assessment of new markets, clearly identifying Chemonics’ competitive advantages and opportunities for growth. - Facilitates go/no-go decisions by summarizing and making clear, informed recommendations. - Works with other strategy and management team members to staff proposal teams across new markets. - Externally promotes Chemonics by attending events, networking with clients, and displaying a clear understanding of the past and present portfolio and corporate history. - Travels to conduct information-gathering assignments regarding new business efforts. - May dedicate time to other work streams and functions to achieve Growth Division goals. - Oversees maintenance of internal trackers and updates corporate record-keeping systems and files. - Leads or participates in planning and execution of divisional activities. - New Business Development: - Takes initiative to support proposal efforts, including assuming capture and live proposal roles. - Builds expertise to assume increasing levels of leadership roles on proposals. - Screens potential partners and makes engagement recommendations to proposal leads. - Participates in proposal strategies in collaboration with proposal leadership to optimize profitability and win rate. - Provides mentorship as appropriate to staff in new business roles and best practices. - Technical: - Actively engages in technical practice of relevance to areas of interest or focus. - Shares information and best practices learned with the company. - Management and Leadership: - Collaborates with operations, new business, and project teams across the company to properly resource proposal efforts. - Drafts and sends division-wide communications on live new business, procedural updates, and coordination efforts. - Engages with cross-functional teams across the company to elevate system and technology needs of the division. - Supports budgeting, operating expense management, and reforecasting. - Oversees management of consultants, including timesheet management and ensuring payment processing. - Supervises, mentors, develops, and evaluates assigned staff. - Provides organizational, planning, and management support to outside facilitators. - Serves as acting director and performs other duties as required. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. - Experience supervising or mentoring employees preferred. - Fluency in administrative, accounting, and management systems with demonstrated experience mentoring staff in these areas. - Demonstrated experience writing proposal or report sections or similar. - Demonstrated experience following standard practices and procedures. - Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Demonstrated resourcefulness in problem solving and initiative to learn new skills. - Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. - Foreign language proficiency preferred. - Previous experience working in international development and/or living or conducting volunteer work in developing countries preferred. - Willingness to travel up to 8 weeks per year. Compensation Range $66,500.00 - $83,100.00. An employee's pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
