Role Description Catalyx is seeking an experienced MES Engineer with strong PAS-X expertise to support a large-scale pharmaceutical manufacturing programme. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams including Process SMEs, Quality, Validation, and IT to design, optimise, and deploy MES solutions, with a strong focus on Electronic Batch Records (EBR). The project involves the enhancement of an existing MES landscape, including the implementation of Siemens Edge technologies to support improved data flow, system connectivity, and real-time manufacturing insights. This is a fully remote role supporting a Switzerland-based site, with exposure to global stakeholders and complex, multi-product manufacturing environments. - Design, configure, and develop MES templates and Electronic Batch Records (EBRs) aligned to manufacturing process requirements. - Review and optimise existing EBR designs across areas such as cell culture, purification, and drug product operations, providing standardisation recommendations. - Support the conversion of paper-based or hybrid batch records into fully digital EBR solutions. - Develop MES workflows, state diagrams, and configuration strategies to support different manufacturing processes. - Produce and maintain detailed MES documentation including configuration specifications, SOPs, and design documents. - Collaborate with Process SMEs to ensure MES design aligns with source documentation (e.g. process descriptions, BOMs, recipes, validation strategies). - Lead and support MES testing activities including shakedown testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). - Troubleshoot MES execution issues and provide ongoing technical support during deployment and early lifecycle phases. - Support MES integration with third-party systems, including involvement in Siemens Edge integration to enable enhanced system interoperability and data exchange. - Contribute to multi-product campaign readiness activities and continuous improvement initiatives. - Deliver training sessions and guidance on MES design best practices to internal teams. Qualifications - 3–5+ years’ experience in MES within pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing environments. - Strong hands-on experience with Werum PAS-X is essential. - Exposure to Siemens technologies or Edge-based architectures is highly desirable. - Solid understanding of MES architecture including master data, workflows, and state-based design. - Experience working within GMP-regulated environments with exposure to validation and change control processes. - Proven experience in EBR design, development, and optimisation. - Familiarity with integration between MES and systems such as LIMS, ERP, and automation platforms. Benefits - Great personal benefits and professional growth opportunities.
