Role Description As a Researcher, you will play a crucial role in synthesising evidence and information to provide policymakers and schools with reliable, evidence-based advice that is accessible, easy to understand, and readily implemented in practice. Purpose of the role: - This role contributes to the development, translation, and dissemination of high-quality education research and policy analysis. - It includes stakeholder engagement and preparation of written and multimedia materials that are accessible, easy to understand, and readily implemented by schools and policymakers. Accountabilities: - Contribute to the scoping, planning and designing of education research projects aligned to AERO’s annual research agenda. - Undertake data collection and analysis on multiple education research projects in collaboration with other AERO researchers using rigorous qualitative and/or quantitative methods. - Develop research products that support education practitioners working in schools and early childhood services to use more evidence-based practices. - Plan and implement dissemination activities that maximise the impact of AERO research products on the Australian education community. - Support collaborations with external stakeholders to ensure research projects and products are high quality and have high impact. - Provide a range of administrative activities, including coordinating research project governance and supporting stakeholder engagement as well as research product development and implementation. Qualifications - Research qualifications in education, social sciences, data science, or another relevant discipline. - Strong written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information for different audiences. Requirements - Technical proficiency in Excel and survey platforms (e.g. REDCap or similar). - Experience as an educator or teacher in school settings or strong knowledge of these contexts. - Experience with quality assurance or quality standards processes would be beneficial, but not essential. - Experience in adult learning, training or professional development would be advantageous. - AERO welcomes applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. You’ll bring strong policy insight alongside a talent for coordinating stakeholder engagement, supporting high-level advisory groups, and preparing quality papers that keep the policy agenda moving. This role plays a critical part in strengthening AERO’s engagement with policymakers and key stakeholders by coordinating and supporting school Advisory Groups comprising senior education leaders and decision‑makers. You will bring expertise in organising and supporting advisory forums, overseeing agendas, papers and minutes, to enable high‑quality dialogue and effective information exchange. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, the role helps ensure evidence‑based insights are clearly communicated and meaningfully inform policy and practice. Qualifications - Experience and understanding of government policy processes and advisory group structures. - Experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration with internal and external partners. - Analytical skills, including the ability to assess information from various sources. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in drafting policy briefs and submissions. - A high level of organisational skills and attention to detail. - Experience with overseeing agendas, papers, noting and producing minutes. - Tertiary qualifications in public policy, public administration, education policy, or a related field and/or relevant experience. - AERO welcomes applicants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. Requirements - Contribute to the development of policy advice on a wide variety of issues in education, including schools, child and student outcomes, and evidence use in practice. - Contribute to policy research, including investigating and analysing issues relating to education. - Organise, coordinate and support school Advisory Group meetings with senior policymakers including agendas, papers, and minutes. - Coordinate and contribute to the development of discussion papers, submissions, and briefs to inform decision-making. - Support teams across AERO to effectively use and engage with AERO’s school Advisory Groups. - Support the Strategic Policy and Engagement team with the timely delivery of external projects, which may include collaborating with team members to establish efficient processes. Benefits - Fully remote role – work from home anywhere in Australia. - Fixed-term contract through to January 2027, with flexibility to work 4 or 5 days per week. - Offering a competitive base salary starting from $83,754 (with scope for higher based on skills and experience), plus 12% superannuation.
