Title: Project Assistant (Highways) Location: Vancouver BC CA Job Description: The opportunity: Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Project Assistant (Highways) to join our team in our Vancouver, Kelowna, or Victoria office. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining effective relationships with government agencies, contractors, suppliers, project teams, and the public to support the successful delivery of quality work. Acting as a liaison throughout project implementation, you will collaborate with the Ministry of Transportation staff, contractors, and their representatives before and during project execution to foster strong working relationships, coordinate project activities, and ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively. Does this sound like you? - Minimum one (1) year of experience in highway construction, paving, or transportation infrastructure projects, supported by construction-related education in areas such as surveying, design, materials, hydraulics, asphalt technology, or a related discipline. - Knowledge of highway construction methods, paving practices, maintenance standards, and the Ministry's Standard Specifications for Highway Construction. - Proven ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, technical specifications, contract documents, policies, and regulatory requirements. - Experience administering construction contracts, monitoring contractor performance, and resolving complex issues with contractors, consultants, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies. - Understanding of Quality Management systems, quality assurance/quality control processes, auditing practices, and construction inspection procedures. - Working knowledge of highway surveying, construction layout, materials testing, traffic management, public safety requirements, and construction equipment. - Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, regulations, and safe work practices applicable to construction environments. - Understanding of engineering principles related to materials, structures, geology, and hydraulics, and their application to transportation infrastructure projects. - Demonstrated ability to track project costs, monitor budgets, coordinate multiple priorities, and support the successful delivery of construction projects. - Valid Class 5 Driver's License with an acceptable driver's abstract, and the ability to travel throughout British Columbia and work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions. In this role you will be responsible for construction management and supervision, quality management and assurance, contract administration, civil inspection, and construction survey services to clients including the Ministry of Transportation and Transit, BC Hydro, major municipalities, and developers across British Columbia.
