Role Description The Director, Examination Readiness leads the development, operations, and management of end-to-end examination readiness products for outcomes-based activities aligned with ASCP strategic priorities, including product roadmaps, schedules, and lifecycle assessment. The Director serves as staff liaison to volunteer product committees, communities of practice, and collaborates with cross-functional teams, learning designers, vendors, data scientists, and IT to coordinate content development, peer review, platform configuration, and quality instructional design meeting the needs of learners. The Director monitors product performance, customer feedback, competitive landscape, and financials to drive continuous improvement, policy refinement, platform modernization, innovative strategies, accurate data, effective resources, and new product opportunities. Duties and Responsibilities - Develop and oversee the full lifecycle of the design, development, assessment, and optimization of existing and new high-quality examination readiness products. - Coordinate end-to-end content development workflows for a growing number of item banks. - Develop, implement, evaluate, and align policies and procedures for item bank composition. - Design and manage standardized processes for subject matter expertise (SME) contribution and engagement. - Accountable lead for all examination and board preparation product lines. - Develop and maintain annual product development procedures to maximize operational efficiency. - Configure, upload, and test new products in online delivery platform(s). - Interpret learner performance data to inform item revisions and benchmarking strategies. - Provide performance evidence in dashboards and other visually apparent reports. - Evaluate product surveys and customer feedback to monitor performance. - Serve as staff liaison to subject matter expert (SME) product committees. - Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. - Stay abreast of developments and lead competitive landscape for examination readiness products. - Develop and monitor product revenues and expenses. - Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership regarding products and future development priorities. Program Director Engagement Strategy - Identify the evolving needs of program directors and translate insights into a strategic roadmap of initiatives. - Create and implement curriculum-aligned tools, learning modules, and faculty resources. - Lead initiatives to expand awareness, integration, and sustained usage of examination readiness tools. Strategic Planning - Collaborates with volunteers, colleagues, and leadership to design, develop, and deploy innovative evaluation techniques. - Researches and develops new technology-based products. - Works with committees, vendors, and team to craft business plans for implementation. - Delivers strategic assessments and analytics to the ASCP Commission on Continuing Professional Development. - Participates in cross-functional teams to move ASCP organizational initiatives forward. - Assumes additional duties as assigned that contribute to the organization/division’s strategic goals. Team Engagement - Supervises and mentors team. - Provides formal and informal feedback. - Delegates authority as appropriate. - Conducts performance reviews. - Sets team priorities based on department, division, and organizational goals. Financial Management - Develops and monitors budgets for the department and its programs. - Monitors expenses and revenues to meet and/or exceed budgetary goals. Compliance and Professional Development - Ensures compliance with applicable ACCME, MOC, and BOC guidelines for continuous professional development. - Applies ASCP customer service guiding principles when interacting with ASCP volunteers, customers, vendors, and staff. - Enhances professional and technical knowledge. - Assumes additional duties as assigned that contribute to the organization’s strategic goals. Education and Experience - Bachelor’s degree with course work or equivalent experience in laboratory sciences. - Master’s degree in adult education, business administration, or instructional technology is preferred. - Supervisory, management, and/or project management experience of 5+ years. - Experience working in a professional association environment with volunteer committees preferred. Job Conditions - This position is eligible for remote work. - Normal working hours are 7.5 hours per day. - Occasional travel is required. Role Description The Learning Experience Designer I, Grant-Funded Educational Programs supports the design and development of grant-funded educational activities for ASCP. Reporting to the Senior Director of Learning Innovation, this role works closely with the grants team and subject matter experts to create engaging, high-quality educational experiences that support program goals and learner needs. This position is well suited for a professional who is building experience in learning design and who is a quick learner, technically adept, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. - Design and develop grant-funded educational activities in collaboration with the Director of Learning Innovation, grants team, and subject matter experts. - Translate complex clinical, scientific, and professional content into clear, engaging, learner-centered educational experiences. - Develop educational content, storyboards, assessments, and supporting instructional materials. - Write and revise assessment items aligned with learning objectives and program goals. - Support multimedia production needs, including basic audio and video editing. - Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather content, refine educational materials, and ensure content accuracy, quality, and relevance. - Provide project support for grant-funded initiatives, including tracking deliverables, timelines, and development needs. - Work independently to manage assigned projects and meet challenging deadlines across multiple concurrent activities. - Support the development of accessible, user-friendly educational materials. - Contribute to the development and revision of educational activities in alignment with applicable accreditation standards and organizational requirements. - Assist in incorporating educational outcomes, learner feedback, and related data into content updates and continuous improvement efforts. - Apply learning design best practices to support effective, accessible, and high-quality educational outcomes. - Contribute to updates, revisions, and quality improvement of educational materials as needed. - Maintain familiarity with learning technologies and systems used to support educational development. - Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree. - 1–2 years of experience in education, learning design, training, or a related field. - Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. - Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Comfort collaborating frequently with subject matter experts and internal stakeholders. - Ability to learn new technologies, content areas, and processes quickly. Requirements - Experience with grant-funded programs or healthcare education. - Experience with content development, storyboarding, and multimedia production. - Familiarity with RISE and Articulate Storyline. - Basic experience with audio editing and video editing. - Familiarity with learning management systems. - Experience working with continuing education, accreditation standards, educational outcomes, or learner evaluation processes.
