Title: Court Interpreter Location: Austin United States Salary$109,428 - $129,311 Job Description: - Provides simultaneous and consecutive interpretation, and sight translation services during in-court hearings related to all stages of the criminal process by transferring the message from English into Spanish, and from Spanish into English. - Provides interpreting services in the relay mode with interpreters of indigenous languages from Mexico. Acts as facilitator of telephonic events in the courtroom for interpreting events in other-than-Spanish languages. - Provides interpreting services nationwide as part of the Telephone Interpreting Program, with priority to the Western District of Texas. This responsibility entails researching the assigned cases and preparing for the event following established protocols. - Responsible for scheduling and coordinating contract interpreters, including contract interpreters for the Telephone Interpreting Program, as needed. Coordinate with clerk’s office and chambers staff to meet the interpreting needs of the court, as well as locating and confirming any additional contract interpreters needed to provide services. - Prepares for assignments by reading case files and conducting terminology research, as necessary. - Prepares written translations of a variety of materials for the court, ranging from general correspondence to the court from defendants and/or family members, to complex legal documents from other countries. Qualifications To be considered for this position, you must have successfully completed the Federal Court Interpreter Certification Examination (FCICE) and be federally certified by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts for Spanish/English. A minimum of three (3) years of specialized experience is also required. Candidate should also possess basic computer/software skills in order to perform translation, research, and administrative duties. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has provided the interpreter with the knowledge, skills and abilities to accurately and idiomatically render a message from the source language into the receptor language without any additions, omissions or other misleading factors that in any way alter the intended meaning of the message from the source language speaker in a courtroom or legal environment. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomic levels is desirable. - Extensive knowledge of legal, highly technical, and colloquial vocabulary in English and Spanish, and familiarity with the regional border language characteristics/slang of the southwest area of the United States is preferred but not required. - Membership in an interpreting/translation professional association is highly desirable. Role Description The Financial Specialist position is in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Department of Administrative Service, Financial Management Office (FMO), Financial Operations Division, Financial Accounting Branch, Reporting and Reconciliation Section. The FMO is responsible for financial management for the federal judiciary, including accounting, reporting, and investments. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Department of Administrative Services, Financial Management Office (FMO), Financial Operations Division, Financial Accounting Branch, Reporting and Reconciliation Section (RRS) is seeking an experienced Financial Specialist to join its team. This position reports to the RRS Chief. RRS is responsible for the accuracy and validity of financial information in the Judiciary Integrated Financial Management System (JIFMS) and various Treasury systems, internal and external financial reporting, as well as meeting the business needs of financial operations and management programs of the judiciary. The successful candidate should have financial experience with a district or bankruptcy court or large probation office as well as expert knowledge and skills in providing analysis and recommendations over the broad spectrum of financial and operational management. - Supporting JIFMS and subsidiary financial system development activities to improve accounting practices for the courts, including configuration, requirements planning, user acceptance testing, and implementation efforts. - Liaising between the court finance community and the AO, including the assembling of focus groups and conducting meetings to ensure the practical application of policies and procedures and to provide training. - Assisting court units with accounting operations, including month end reporting, check cancellation identification, and case mapping. - Verifying systems assurance and data integrity for the central accounting system. - Analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts detail transactions to ensure accuracy and integrity in JIFMS, including ensuring the accuracy of data in Treasury's Central Accounting Reporting system. - Researching and responding to courts and AO staff on policy and procedural issues related to Civil and Criminal Accounting Module and civil/criminal debt, including system configuration updates as required by statutory or policy changes, joint and several debts, assets forfeiture funds collections and disbursements, Automated Collections Register configuration, unclaimed funds transfers and disbursements, invested registry funds, and separation of duties resolution. - Participating in meetings with Office of General Counsel, Policy, Court Operations Division, and the Department of Justice to discuss debt matters. - Leading or assisting with projects to enhance productivity, effectiveness, and efficiencies of court and AO operations through the improvement of financial systems and financial management processes and procedures. Role Description The Instructional Designer position is in the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, Department of Administrative Services, Financial Management Office (FMO), Financial Policy, Travel, and Training Staff. The FMO is responsible for financial management for the federal Judiciary including accounting, budgeting, reporting, and investments. The primary function of FPTTS training is to provide a comprehensive program of high-quality, business process eLearning courses, and performance support resources to new and experienced court unit executives and financial management professionals in the judiciary. The Instructional Designer works with FMO leaders and staff, court leaders and staff, and training partners to accomplish the FMO's strategic goal. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO), Department of Administrative Services, Financial Management Office (FMO), Financial Policy, Travel, and Training Staff (FPTTS) is seeking an experienced Management Analyst (Policy) to join its team. This position reports to the FPTTS Chief.
